I saw the coolest sign in someone's front door window last night. It said "We don't dial 911." and it had a picture of a revolver pointed at you. I loved it! I need one! This is right around WPI so odds are it is a student.

Fly Navy ....... that reminded me of a real old poster i had ... I scanned it way back ... and have dug out a smaller version ...... see below.

Just for the hell of it ...... adapted it also to something after fashion of what you described ........ makes a point!!

I do have a 10 x 8 version of the ''dog'' one ... so could supply something bigger if anyone wanted to print it out.

Fly navy ... sure - I'll see what i can do. Doubt it'll be tonight cos have to quit rather early .. maybe tho tomorrow I can fix something up. To keep adequate definition they (8 x 10 size) will have to be GIF format probably ... so they won't be small ........ I'll also have to see where I can place them so as to be downloadable.

Check back tomorrow sometime. ...... and I'll hopefully have some links.

Awesome! Thanks a lot! I appreciate the time and effort. If you want to, I have an FTP server you can upload direct to. Just let me know and I'll give you the address.

Following GlocksRock's comment .... I have made one more ....... I have FTP to various servers Fly Navy so no probs .. but server I am using here has it's fickle moments so ... hang on if it misbehaves when you use it.

So here are all three together, the smaller versions (the large should print to 8 x 10 and are GIFS .. in fact not too large at all because just B/W) ......

Click on links for larger versions ... either right click to bring them up in a browser window and then ''save picture as''.... or right click and ''save target as'' ...... either will do.

if any probs let me know. I gotta quit shortly.

I've seen these before, and one thing allways left me wondering.

Where's the crane on those revolvers? :p

I Dial 1911!
damn ... there's yet another!

The missing crane ... AndrewWalkowiak ...... good point!!! I guess in this instance the originator took ''artistic licence''.:) Can we say ''generic'' revo!?

Maybe I should ammend these .... hmmm .... now you got me thinkin..............................:p

Nothing says white trash like a big written sign in your window.

Especially ones with bumper sticker slogans.

(I'm just joking, settle down. :neener: )

Your second link (under This Home) is to the large Dog instead of the large home.

Great work, BTW.

Well, Mike....

suppose there are two schools of thought

If you advertise you have guns, then I guess they're gonna know (or not really know for sure)

But if they look at my Jeep and see the NRA, NWTF, and DU stickers plus the Fish and Wildlife tags, then they're gonna figure it out anyway.

I have a sign in my garage window. Kinda like the ones above, looking down the barrel. ....

Says "If Your Found Here Tonite, You'll be Found Here Tomorrow"

Had a car broken into last year. $2,675 damage to steal a $129 stereo. Trying to eliminate the problem from happening again.

since then I've added a 100# Lab and ADT. Between the three, I'd think they get the idea.

I know there's a lot of mental midgets in the world, but if I were of the unruly sort, I'd think REAL hard before crossing over the fence in the middle of the night.

FWIW...Saw a sign in a store with the revolver picture "If you're going to shoplift from this store, you'd better be able to run faster than 1300 feet per second"

Hmm

Now say you had one of these signs hanging in your window, and you had to use a firearm for whatever reason. What do you think the outcome would be? Myself personally, I have the "Use of deadly force" laws attached to my front door with "You have been warned" printed on the top. I think that the PA might tag you as a trigger happy nut, and reinforce the thought to a jury by showing them the sign. Any thoughts?

Dr J ..... thx for pointing out my link screw up .. I have amended that ..... did it all in a hurry last night.

I might add .. following other comments .. i am not personally in favor of displaying any of these .... they are ''fun'' only for me. I might have one on wall in living room for amusement .... and in fact have the original ''nenver mind dog'' in my workshop .... that's all tho.

The one poster I would dearly like to see displayed widely is ...... something like ''This house is gun free'' ....... something for the anti's to display so the slimeballs can know where to go!! :p

I was thinking of this the other night...

I saw the " Never mind the dog.. " one somewhere and thought about my 12# chiwuawua and in my mind revised a sign that had an out line of a chiwuawua that said

" The dog is useless, But beware of the owner! "

:D

Well,...

I suppose about anything can happen

If the PA wants to label me as a gun lover, he wouldn't have much problem. Some posters, the guns in my collection, and a room full of reloading stuff plus a stack of magazines and books and maybe 5,000 rounds of ammo probably make the case.

As above, I know there are many of our population that use less than a rational thought process, but my idea is to scare them off before I need to use deadly force. I know you can't go cruising around the yard shooting anyone there. If I'd ever shoot, it would be totally justified.

FYI

Someone pointed out that the revo had no crane ...... true enough .... I never drew the original and of course it is very ''cartoon'' in nature.

However .. I have made a small change on these which does at least suggest that the cylinder has something of a central axis ..... about which to revolve!:p ;)

I liked that one ...
"If you're going to shoplift from this store, you'd better be able to run faster than 1300 feet per second"
.... thx Redneck2 .. maybe have to make something up on that theme! If anyone wants.

P95Carry,

Thanks mate, I'll be printing a couple of these out.

I woulda done some posters myself, but I failed art in the third grade, so appreciate your effort greatly! (Task: draw an outline of your own hand. Outcome: Teacher said it was unrecognizable. Oh well.)

And if it ever comes to how to explain the dead bodies, well, I don't think having a poster is going to make much difference. I reckon these posters would probably help discourage the lowlife.

At least they don't take much reading comprehension to be clearly understood!

Esky
wondering if he'd be rich & famous if he'd only been able to draw that hand ;-)

There's a guy around here that has a sign on the gate leading to his house that says: Nothing on this property is worth your life. I don't believe hes ever had any problems with anybody.

Tears . yep.. that article is worth reading, by everyone ....... and whilst I mess with these poster things it is way more for amusement than actual useage on my part.

I have come to think that discretion is a better option these days ....... and within the home and out about ... vigilance, rather than over flippant advertizing.

Where people live makes a huge difference tho IMO too.
