Maybe not so exciting for most of you but today I found my new favorite toy:

I was loading up some .270 loads. The Barnes 140 Gr TSX's were seating pretty firm into the brass. I made a mental note of that while loading.

Long story short, a few days later I had the desire to pull the bullets to revisit the powder charge. I was not excited about the prospect of hammering these things out with my inertia puller.

So, while at the gun show this weekend, I saw a RCBS bullet puller die and bought the .270 collet.

I will never,

Ever,

EVER,

...pound a little plastic hammer on the garage floor again!!! :D:p:banghead:

I pulled 12 rounds apart in about 2 minutes. Bullets look like new. Powder was poured directly out of the brass.

I'm a fan!!!!

Yep.

I have used an RCBS collet pullet for years, but they do have their limitations depending on what you got to get a grip on.

.223 FMJ and any of the VLD bullets can be a little dicey too.

Or if you need to pull lead bullets without deforming them. Or moly coated lead, or plated lead.

Well, don't reload pistol right now, and don't shoot moly or plated/coated lead, but, I can see all of your points.

Worse case scenario, for this one application alone, the $30 was almost worth my time and effort :) I mostly reload rifle, and small bore projectiles are easy to bang out, but the larger stiff gets tough. I think this will work well for those bigger rounds!

Exactly so. Proving, once again, no one single tool is THE answer to much of anything, that's why we have such a board selection, and they all have a place.
