Copper plated revolver?

Add me to the list of people who'd be interested in a copper-plated gun. That worn old zippo is gorgeous.

Does anybody know if there will be problems bringing a firearm to a normal commercial plater? Or would some kind of licensed 'smith have to do the work?

Here's an article about copper plating a gun as a base for nickel. It has some good, zoomable pictures showing the copper finish, though here, it is to be covered over. Lends a strong argument to the possibility.

I was at a gun show about 15 years ago in Fargo North Dakota and one table had a display of Desert Eagles in different guises. One was nickle another gold and a third copper.

Did the copper-plated one look like this?

That's a nice looking lighter, BigBlock.
Not sure that you could get this finish direct, but maybe they could offer up advice,.. Sig Sauer has a Mastershop X-Five Golden Dragon that has a copper-like finish. Though there would be no patina to it, I bet it would hold up well.

LOL, I just searched "copper revolver" in google and this thread is the first listing. Those copper automatics make me want a copper revolver even more, but I definately want real, raw copper to get the old worn look.

I'm also considering doing the plating myself, buying a kit like this and this. That would save a TON on shipping if I had to ship the gun somewhere. I can imagine everything else in my house turning copper shortly after...
