Cor-Bon DPX ammo for .30 Carbine

Does anybody out there have any of this ammo? It's Cor-Bon DPX, for .30 Carbine. It uses a Barnes Triple Shock X 100gr. hollowpoint bullet.

The reason I ask is, I just bought some of these bullets from Barnes, and the salesman gave me load data for H110, but I forgot to ask what the recommended COAL is for loaded rounds.

I'm just wondering if anybody has some of these Cor-Bons, and can tell me what the COAL measures? Not interested in debates about the bullets/cartridges/Cor-Bon/Barnes, I only want the over-all length of the loaded round.

These bullets are not catalog items, so there's no load data for them in any books, nobody even carries the bullets for sale, Barnes makes them just for Cor-Bon. I just happened to call Barnes asking where I could get them, and the guy said they just happened to have some available from a production over-run, because they've had so many requests for them. They're not even listed on the Barnes website, or the PDF poster of their products.

If anyone's interested, the Barnes # is 30800, and you have to order them directly from Barnes. Very aggressive hollowpoints, I want to load some up for home defense and possible deer hunting. They're supposed to be excellent for deer.

Just me personally, but I wouldn't want a lightweight and "Very aggressive" hollowpoint if I were hunting deer with a .30 Carbine. I would want a heavier softpoint to help ensure that there is an exit hole. Just MHO.

Standard OAL for the .30 Carbine with a standard FMJ-RN bullet is 1.680".

You need to load near that if you want it to feed right.

Your bullet being a HP, will probably seat a little shorter.

Was it me?
I'd probably seat to 1.650", color the bullet with a marker, and check to see if it misses the chamber leade.

If it does, and feeds 100%, I'd call it good.

If you don't mind me asking, How much was a box of the Barnes 100gr bullets and how much was shipping. I've seen those on Gunbroker, but haven't bought any yet.
I see Hornady has a new loading in 2013 for the 30 carbine that looks good for SD.

Thanks guys! I can also call Barnes for the COAL on Monday, I was just hoping somebody had a box of these and some calipers handy. I was assuming it would be shorter than regular FMJ's, just didn't know how much.

Don - kind of a long story, but these won't be used for hunting in woods. These are more for a "backyard" scenario with lots of houses around, so low powered rounds are desired, with bullet exits discouraged. The landowner hunts with a 9mm carbine himself, with the game wardens blessings as long as he uses +P ammo. Basically a heavily populated rural area over-ran with deer, that need to be thinned out so special permits are issued.

Total was $41.32, shipping was $10-something, 50 bullets were $31-something, I don't have the receipt handy.

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I would like to know how these perform for you on deer. They look to be perfect for your situation.
