I know, +p ammo is not advisable in an older 1911 like the Sistema, but what about loading it for defense and maybe a box for testing? My Sistema feeds ball 100%, but is not totally reliable with HP's (although Golden Sabers work 99% of the time). Right now I load ball in the mags with a Fed 230gr hydrashok up the snout. Think a Sistema can handle a few rounds of 165gr powRball? I also have an extra power recoil spring installed.

I had my Sistema throated and the ramp polished and so far it's been reliable with all the self-defense ammo I've tried with it: Golden Sabers, Fed EFMJ, and Fed Hydra-Shoks. I've decided, though, that for self-defense applications I'll stick with Remington Golden Sabers (230g) for this pistol and save the Pow'RBalls and the rest for my newer guns (Kimber, Glocks), just to be on the safe side. A lot of people feel quite well-defended with Golden Sabers, so I don't see any reason to push the envelope when you're not really giving up anything by the choice. The 185g version of the Golden Saber (not +P) reports more energy than the 230g; that's another way to go perhaps.

Glockorama, ditto longeyes' post. My Sistema Colt 1927 feeds everything after polishing the feed ramp, throating, and having the ejection port lowered. I wouldn't be concerned about a few rounds of +P but I am equally happy carrying mine with 230gr hollow points. Regards, Richard:D

I've had it throated, and the feed ramp is polished to point I can see myself. Even have Chip McCormick mags, it just hangs up on some HP's. Golden Sabers, well, actually they have fed 100%, but I only put 50 rds through it. Others are iffy. Sure Hydrashoks, Golddots, silvertips, will all work in it MOST of the time, but I'm not willing to bet my life on 80-90% reliability. I guess I'll just stick with my current format for now. I did hear a rumor that corbon was going to eventually put out a heavier non+p powRball 45 load sometime. :)

I haven't a clue. I can only relate my experience. I guess take it to a good gunsmith or find a good defensive round the Sistema Colt 1927 likes. Sorry, Richard:D

I'd be interested in hearing what Cor-Bon would say about the advisability of using Pow'RBall in a Sistema. Personally I'll stick with non-+P ammo in mine. I'm using Pow'RBall in my Glock 30 and 36 but the Glocks were designed to handle hot modern loads.

Let's sorta put this in perspective.

The Argentine 45ACP pistols are quite excellent pistols made to the same specificatons as the COLT, and sometimes better made to boot. The hardness of both the COLT and the Argentine pistols were put at a place where they would bend but not shatter in the event of a catastrophic cartridge failure.
The armed forces of the USA still has several hundred thousand 1911 and 1922A1 pistols in the inventory. On average each of those pistols have been rebuilt six times in their career. Remember too, this is just from shooting military hardball ammunition which is loaded way below SAAMI spec 45 ACP+P. In 1985 the COLT company had to re-do the hardness specifications of their 1911A1 pistol to handle the 10MM AUTO pistol cartridge. While the modern 45ACP+P cartridge is way below the 10MM's pressure limits it's only been 18 years since even COLT toughened up their 1911 to where the constant use of 45ACP+P ammunition was no big deal, shoot-it-to-your-hearts-content.
The CORBON 45ACP+P Pow'rBall is for damshure a lot harder on an older 45ACP pistol than good ol' 45 hardball.
I usta have the most gorgeous like brand new 1927 Argentine 45ACP you ever drooled over. Paid 40 bucks for it with a web belt, it's correct leather holster, a mag pouch with two mags, and the coolest military first aid kit beside the mag pouch you ever saw. It shot like a COLT NM 45 pistol...and I traded it for who-knows-what...geeeeeeeeeeesh!!!!
