Corbon Pow'rball..9mm

Any one use this? any pros or cons? I have heard it's good in .45 cal..how about the 9mm?

I like the round nosed profile much better than the truncated cone shape (like some .40 caliber ammo) of the Federal EFMJ. One would think that the EFMJ would give fits to a pistol that only works well with hardball. The Cor-Bon is reported to feed exactly like 9mm Ball. So does my Sentry +P carry load, as it has a red plastic nose.

Huh. Wasn't aware Cor-Bon got the speed up to that level in the 9mm+P variant. Niiice! Despite the low weight, I'd say we have a contender here, considering the easy feeding and strong "anti clogging" properties.

They're also shipping this projectile in 38+P. I want to see performance data for it in a snubbie...I'm concerned it won't go fast enough.

With almost 1,500fps on tap with the 9+P in a 5" tube and I'd guesstimate north of 1,350 even in the shortest 3" tubes...these should work. (Note: the trend with Cor-Bons is that lower-weight rounds don't lose a lot of speed with shorter barrels in the same caliber. Cor-Bon's 125grain 357 has been clocked at 1,400ish from a 2" barrel SP101, as one example.)

Stephen: nice writeup! Can you run the 38+P variant through a snubby? At a minimum we need to see how much speed we've got here.

Probably not..I think they also refer to "other expandable" ammo, or something along those lines.

I think if the issue was ever seriously contested, one could show pow'r ball to be a hollowpoint. It just has a ball stuck on the end of it.

Carry Ammo

I'm looking to purchase a 9mm soon, and wonder if this is the type of ammo I should carry. How does it compare to federal hydrashocks, remington golden sabers, and other hollow points?
