raises questions about picking the order up when (and if, now) it arrives. Anyone have experience/comments

I've gotten asked that when I bought stuff there and just always reply that I'll gladly pay the sales tax, claiming it makes it simpler on the bookeeper. Never had a problem with them after that.

Grainger & Tax Numbers

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I ordered 40 lb of the 20/40 corncob from Grainger & paid for it (backordered, used "will call" option), after the required registering. No problem. Got an order confirmation the same day, and the next day a "thank you for registering" email, but also an email from Joe Bob or whomever asking for my tax i.d. number or business license number (I left the business name blank on the registration) as they were a wholesaler doing business with retail merchants. I have studiously ignored it, but it raises questions about picking the order up when (and if, now) it arrives. Anyone have experience/comments?

Seems like the lady that took my order asked if I was a business, and I said no, and we just went right on ahead. Might have been a price difference, but 40lbs of corncob for $25? Worked for me.

Graingers accounts are good for more than media, they deal in lots of plastic storage stuff, bins, boxes, bags, work centers and more, some really cool stuff to set up a bench.
