I was wondering about the relative merits of the two finishes with regard to corrosion resistance.
HC is supposed to be the "hardest,", but I am not sure about the difference in corrosion resistance.
Background:
My Kel-tec P40 slide is is sorry shape, finish-wise. It is my go-to CCW when I can not justify a complete carry rig (belt, holster, etc.) and I make use of its belt-waistband clip. So, the left side has worn down to bare steel. If I do any sweating, it will rust and stain my undershirt at 0400.
KTOG has a link to a guy who will EN plate a KT slide for ~$30 plus USPS shipping ~$5 each way (~$40, total). This is a matte finish. More for polished.
Best deal I can get for EN a KT slide is $88 plus $5-15 to him and min $23 back ($116-$126). Matte finish, again. More for polished.
I don't care about looks for this weapon. Even were it polished to a mirror finish, it would still be a butt-ugly hog with one purpose only.
Thanks for any insight.
