Free at last in PA!
So I swear I was just stopping in to see if my friend at the gun shop had found a house in PA yet when they drop a load of consignment guns a guy a just brought in on me. So I start looking through and after sifting through some nice old target .22s I come across a probably 90-95% (there's wear where the forearm comes back across the receiver) 870 Trap TC with 5 or 6 chokes. Now most of you know I'm not really fond of the 870s manual of arms but dang the wood looked nice. And when I heard the price I really couldn't resist, once they get it checked in to their shops system I'll be checking it out for $250!

If anyone is interested they also had some 11-87s for around $400-$450. One has about a 28" inch barrel with what looked like B or C (hard for me to tell) and the other came with both a 25" and 30" barrel.

A Savage Fox Model B almost came home with me too but uh a Garand is gonna follow me home too after it gets checked in.

A TC for $250?!! Buy it, if you don't like it I'll take it off your hands.

So you know....

The TCs oft have overbored barrels that go up to .740-.745" and are legendary for holding patterns. Just before the choke area they narrow down to the standard .729", so even with a skeet choke you have at least 11 POC Special choke tubes were made and marked Trap Something. The standard singles tube runs about Cylinder in a standard Remchoked barrel.

Such a barrel was advertised on another forum for $300 recently. Probably the only better target barrel ever made for the 870 was the custom Baker Big Bore.

And, I've never seen a TC with a bad trigger or plain wood.

Get it and shoot just it for a month. Betcha a T shirt that you'll change your mind about 870s. If not I'll outrage WW and buy it for what you have in it guaranteed.....

Achh!! Working both days this weekend. I'm off today and tomorrow, and I'm playing catchup. Will do some shooting soon, so stay tuned....

BTW, there's been a couple TCs advertised over on trapshooters.com recently. Conditions ranged from NIB to 95% and prices from $450 to $575.....

What are the specifics on this one?

Halvey: It was a single trigger 12ga, in decent shape with good lockup still. The barrels weren't marked but I'm guessing they were Full and Mod. I think they wanted around $300-$350 for it. I can look at it again this afternoon when I go to pickup my stuff if you want.

Friday's good if early, how does 12 sound? Gotta work my part-time later.

Gotta admit, I'd love to find a decent quality letter grade 870 for $250. Looking forward to seeing yours.

If possible, I'll bring your T shirts too. Wife is starting in on the black ones tonight.

I had one just like that I ended up selling. There are some interesting Fox B's, but I still can't get over that big forend.

Thanks for the info though, I appreciate it!

There were about 12-15 guns I think the guy brought in, out of those the interesting ones were the 11-87s, the TC, 2 Garands ( I grabbed one), an armscorp m14 for around $550 that needs some barrel work, some nice old well built target .22s a Remington and a Savage I think. The Savage Fox was interesting to me but not sure how many others would find it interesting. Some pistols but nothing too interesting except maybe an old Hi Power. I'm stopping back in today to pick up the TC and Garand so I can double check everything they got in. It's Bart's in Glen Burnie just in case anyone was wondering.
