What is your current cost and availability of pistol primers locally?

They have been back on the shelves in local gunshops lately in St. Clair County, Illinois - just across the Mississippi from St. Louis, MO. For about the last year, 1,000 Small Pistol and/or Large Pistol Primers have cost me $39.99 + sales tax at the LGS. That makes them $43.23 (4.3 cents each) out the door.

Are they currently available where you live? What is the price? Is there a limit on the number you may purchase at one time?

I only load handgun cartridges, but would also be interested in the cost and availability of Rifle Primers.

Of course the serious lack of smokeless powder availability makes these primer questions moot, but I was just curious.

At Northern Ill./ Southern Wis. area gun shows we are seeing primers in good supply at $31 - $35 per 1000. (Winchester & CCI)

I picked up 4k for $16 a few months back in Beaumont on my way home from work.
Got home, checked the receipt, and figured out the store had the UPC on bulk packs at 3.99 instead of the individuals.
Went through the trouble of having to drop them off at my office before heading in to the refinery at 5:00am the next morning and then the same trouble picking them back up after work.
Arrived at Gander mountain and the argument began. They were positive I hadn't over-payed. After about 5-10 more minutes of arguing and explaining, I sacked em back up, and walked out. I tried to do the right thing.
Oh, there was another 5k or so I went back and bought. If you're going to insist you're right, I'm happy to agree with you in the end.

These prices are pretty close to what they've been for the past few months around here.

Before the Great Primer Shortage of 2012, you could get a brick for $26. Suddenly they jumped to $40. Now that primers are back in stock, they haven't dropped those absurd prices because they just love making all that extra money.

Louisville area.

Primers have been fairly easy to access in the heartland. Prices have risen to 35$ per K for CCI SP, same for LP. Biggest problem has been finding powder to ignite with them. I don't get the increase price for powder. How can price for powder be driven to point to where it is cheaper to buy factory ammo?

A gun show vender a couple months ago was selling cci primers for $25/1000, cash only. I had enough for 5 bricks. Another gun show is scheduled for this weekend and I will have plenty of cash on hand just in case. Local stores sell for $40/1000.

Here in NE Georgia SP, LP, & SR primers run $32.95 - $34.95/1k. LMRP are $35.95/1k. I have one LGS that cut me a break on 10k SPP for $290 + Tax 2 weeks ago.

LGS around here are selling most flavors of std and MAG primers $45-$50 per K. A year and a half ago they were $31 per K. Widners had them for $20-$24 per K at the same time however so I purchased 15K, 3 LBS of Lil-Gun, and 8LBS of promo from them then to spread out the haz-mat fee some. The LGS will only sell for big profits if WE choose to buy at those prices. I try not to. I also realize that some/most can't afford to spend a lot at once or lack of availability on line force us to do this.

Cabelas here has had just about any standard size and type in stock for 6 months or more. Prices are about $2/k higher than they were pre-panic, currently $37-40 depending on brand. Their powder has gone up about $2/lb (when they have any). They're actually lower than most local shops on powder and primers, but not really on bullets.

Here In Okeechobee Fl. CCI are $65 per 1000 and tul Ammo are $55. The only 2 brands they carry. We have 5 gun shops in town and only one carries reloading supplies. Plus we have 2 shootin ranges that will sell you a press but don't sell anything to go with them. It really sucks.

Without me driving 50+ miles the only local store has them for 50.00 brick. I just pd 40.00 a brick for 5 bricks shipped.

You can find primers and powder in my area but for the most part, prices are still high.

$35 per 1000 for Winchester SPP and LPP

$40 per 1000 CCI #41

$25 per lb. pistol powder

I have seen the primers jump from $26-$29 to $34-$40. in this part of Ohio

Don't understand it, but the standard (not match) Winchester SPP's at the local LGS were $44 and the CCI SPP were $36. Don't remember them being that different in price. No Brainer on witch to get...CCI in the bag.;)

The LGS here has primers to need pre-panic prices. Though when primers were scarce, they managed to get quite a variety of Tulammo primers. They must have paid a premium for them, because they marked them at $55. Last I looked, they still had that price on them, but new American primers are back to near sane pricing.

Cabelas in the Denver area has WLP for $38/1k. Last week they had CCI spp/lpp on sale for $32/1k. Availability has been pretty consistent for a few months now. Haven't bought any rifle primers but they are in the same price range. Powder, especially pistol, is still pretty rare.
