I've been reading and learning here on THR for over two years now, partly because I enjoy shooting and also in anticipation for the opportunity to exercise my 2nd amendment rights. I just turned 21, am in college, and am eager to get to it (even though I won't be able to carry most of the time due to the highly intelligent administration of this University
). My girlfriend is also interested in getting her CCW so we are interested in doing the course together if possible.
Being a college student, I don't have much extra cash. The cost of everything is keeping me from doing anything, yet. The $60 application fee in KY, and then the cost of the class, as well as a firearm, holster, carry belt and other gear, practice ammo, all add up very quickly. I'll probably be going for a good used snubnose revolver when I have the funds, I have done my homework quite a bit here and elsewhere on good carry guns.
So what I'm looking for is if anyone has any suggestions for where I can go for the best value CCW class. Note that I am not looking for the cheapest class, because it isn't something I want to inappropriately skimp on, just a good one at a good price. I'm actually not even sure what the run around here. I am in college in Bowling Green, and home is near Lexington, and can drive a reasonable distance for a good course. It will probably have to be at a gun shop where I can rent a gun for completing the course because I won't be able to buy one until summer. Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.
