One last comment to add.

(Maybe I missed it above) Saving 1/2 is a very attainable goal. But half may be incorrect.

For half of bulk ammo price you can get premium accurized ammo tailored to your pistol and uses. The cost of premium ammo is waaay higher than Win Value pak.

For anything other than a very hot load, PICK UP RANGE BRASS for 9,40,45---IT'S FREE AND you're there to shoot anyway.. You can check for defects as your handling and cleaning it.

At one of my ranges it costs 6$ to shoot, and I usually walk away with 3-400 pieces of brass + my own--sometimes more. That's low cost shooting.

My two-bits worth of input, pick up EVERY caliber of brass you can, except for .22LR. You never know what gun you may buy next, or if you can make a trade down the road. You don't have to tumble clean everything, I just throw the orphan brass in a rubbermaid plastic tub.

Even at my local gun shoppe's indoor range there are a surprising number of kind folks who shoot only factory new ammo and if asked nicely, will give you their spent brass.

$104 + $19.95 shipping + $22.50 hazmat = $146.45/8lbs
$110 + $4.50 + $22.50 hazmat = $137/5000 primers = 2.74 cents/primer

Giggity just in case you didn't know you can order up to 48 pounds of powder and primers mixed in the same order and only pay one hazmat fee.

I know about ordering up to 48 lbs. I order powder from Powder Valley and primers from Graf's because they are a better deal than Powder Valley. I calculated as if I was not being thrifty and buying just for .40 and not making a large purchase in order to disperse hazmat and shipping fees.
