I was blasting and Duracoating a gun for a friend of mine, so I went ahead and two toned my RIA 2011 6", and my 10" buckmark.
I sprayed the rail, and small parts of the buckmark black, with the slide, frame, and barrel getting FDE.
The RIA was actually an afterthought. I mixed too much FDE, and it was the first thing I saw when I opened the safe. Its also got a heavy coat of parkerizing which Duracoat bonds to well, so it was simply disassembly, degreasing, and painting. No blasting or other prep work needed.

The buck mark I planned for, but still took me the better part of an hour to disassemble....took me the better part of an hour to get back together too. ...also forgot to get better pictures of it.

I like color, much happier with the guns now that they arnt all black.

I have always liked two tones since I got my High Power Browning Practical many years ago. Good Job they look great.

Looking at two-tone pictures of 1911s on here is what prompted me to go grab another handgun instead of trying to find something else to spray with the leftover duracoat lol.

Looking very nice.

What's the purpose of that honkin' big frame at the spring shroud?

Unused meat for a rail or just extra weight for stability?

Wait - maybe distraction so the double stack doesn't make her *... butt look fat?*

Todd.
Both of the 2011s are really meant to be entry level competition guns. So have a lot of weight on them.
The slides are actually swap between the frames with the shorter 5-in being an FS slab side, and the 6-inch being a Tac-Match
I like them better the way they are now and it took very little fitting to get them to lock up and fit nicely together, So they got swapped. But the model designators don't match anymore.
The 6-in weighs something like 3lb and change with a full magazine and five rounds on the side (bringing it up to the spec capacity of 15 rounds). So her butt IS fat, And I dig it!

I really like that RIA 2011 and I too like the layered Orange grips on certain Black guns.
I really like the orange grips on certain guns as well, They seem to do better on all blacks, where just that single splash of color is enough to change the overall impression of the gun.

I'm thinking about getting FDE and green or black grips for the long slide also but haven't decided if I really want to or not yet.

The SA Ronins are calling my name, I think it’s the two-tone look they have as well.

Nice job on them all .

Stay safe.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

I ment to get better pictures of the buckmark, but havent managed to get home from work at a reasonable hour of late lol...... maybe tomorrow...im also thinking I might shoulda blacked the slide and barrel
