Any recommendations on converting a Colt Match Target post-ban to the pre-ban confiuration. It has been suggested that many uppers will not fit on a Post-ban Colt

The major problem is that Colt doesn't use the same size pivot pins as all of the other manufacturers, that's what causes problems. Many of the outfits that sell uppers can supply an upper that will work with a Colt lower receiver on request.

As far as it goes, I have a Post Ban rifle but don't see any big reason to change anything, it doesn't have a bayonet lug, but I have no plans on using a bayonet anyway, the other item is the flash hider, I don't have one, but don't think that's any big deal. The major benefit I see from the end of the ban is that they are making proper magazines again! :D

It's rediculously easy to swap out a barrel on the same upper if you decided to go that route, or you can send the upper off to be rebuilt by a company like ADCO where they will thread the barrel for you.

Just buy a complete barrel kit from the manufacturer of your choice and in the preban configuration of your choice, buy an action block, and buy an armorer's wrench.(get some snap ring pliers as well if you don't have some).

Head by here and give it an over view, gives a good indication of what is needed and allows a person to decide whether or not they can handle the task.

No kidding, my barrel took all of 10 minutes to replace.

I decided to replace my barrel with a lighter weight Gov't. profile and use my old Hbar with AK74 brake as part of a trade for some other preban equipment. Doing the same with a 14.5inch Hbar with AK74 brake here in another week or so, got a lighter weight M4 profile 1:7 barrel going in it's place.

Well why change it?
The colt heavy match pre-ban rifles with the prefix mh never had a bayonet lug and flash hider anyway. If you want it I guess just go to your local gunsmith
