Will be heading to Kansas in February, to visit son who is station there. (Air Force). Would like to do some "Coyote Calling" Need places to call any recommendations would be GREAT!:)

First off, I welcome you to Kansas. I would love to be able to hook you up with some private land, but I just don't have any right now. The good news is there are coyotes all over the public hunting areas and in February you will have them pretty much all to yourself.

First for licesence info and such~~ http://www.kdwp.state.ks.us/

You can also surf the above web site for public hunting areas. I assume since your son is in the Air Force that you will be staying in Wichita. Cheney wildlife area, ElDorado Wildlife area and Kingman Wildlife area are all with in and hour or so drive from Wichita. We also have available now lands the state of Kansas has rented from private owners for the purpose of hunting. They are listed in the above website as WIHA. (walk in hunting areas.) You can download a PDF file map of the locations. Sedgwick, Butler, Sumner and Kingman counties are the ones joining Wichita. Be sure to check species allowed to hunt and closing dates as the vary with the WIHA lands.

If/when you have questions or just want to visit about Kansas I would be happy to help anyway I can. Feel free to email and if need be we can chat on the phone. If you do email perhaps if you put something like "hunt Kansas" in the subject I will be less likely to overlook it as spam.
Bill
P.S.
Be sure to tell your son that I thank him for his service to our country!

Walk-in areas would be your best bet, either download the maps or pick up a book at WalMart or other hunting goods place. Talk with some landowners, I don't know many who would object to someone taking out some coyotes.

WOW! thanks for the info,!
CK out the KS DNR web site. Looks to me my son only needs a hunting license. $19bucks......... Me $71 OUCH!!
He lives around the Wichita area.
