I am going to do some coyote hunting in an area that is "shotgun only". I will have my 12 guage with 00 buck. My son will use his 20 guage.

What type of load should I use in the 20 guage? I don't even know if they make 00 buck in 20 guage????

Thanks,
Dave

Try to find some old #2 birdshot, and I would recommend something a bit smaller for the 12ga as well. If you can't find some of the lead loads in BB, #1, or #2 shots, their is many loads of #4 buck available for 20ga. 00 buck is plenty for coyote, but it only gives you what, 18 pellets. ?

We use #4 birdshot for fox in our area and slightly larger shot of #2's or BB's for coyote. Have taken fox at 55 yards with #4 shot and a coyote at 50yards with #2's. Pattern your particular gun to see waht range has a killing pattern. 8 or 10 pellets will take either out of these size shot. Iv'e had as little as 2 pellets put a fox down.

2 3/4" #3 buckshot, or 3" #2 buckshot if you gun will shoot it, along with a full or modified choke. A buddy from high school had a 20 gauge 870 with a full choke that would ventilate coyotes when called in close. He used 3 inch #2 buckshot or slugs.

Just my .02,
