I wanted a Surefire Millenium M500A for my M4gery, until I priced them. As you all may know- msrp is $515, I could get one for $390 from a dealer here on thr. Still too much, IMHO, as I am cheap. Not so cheap that I would just duct tape a 6P light to the handguard though, and I didn't want to use one of those mounts that attach to the front sight or the barrel.

Then I was thinking of a quad-rail forend and mounts for it. Still a lot of money.

Anytime a M500A appears on Ebay they go for around $300, which was where I was going to be looking.

Then, while browsing craigslist.org a couple days ago I found someone selling one for $200. I called, set up a visit, and went and looked at it yesterday. The owner had recently won the newer model (with the LED "navigation" lights) in a raffle and no longer needed this one. It was in pretty good shape, used, but in overall good condition. When I say used, it was no "safe queen", the guy is DoE security at Lawrence Livermore National Lab.

Doesn't my "safe queen" look so pretty now?

Only problem- my Wilderness tactical sling no longer fits. Does anyone have a solution for that?

Well, my favorite solution is to order the Wilderness single point sling with mounting plate...

:)

You could also remove the stock front sling swivel and install a barrel mounted side swivel, but you would still have to purchase a new sling.

Get the dual side swivel sling from the Wilderness. It is cheaper and goes on more stuff. (Though you need appropriate mount adapters to go on the firearm itself.) Then sell the old one.
