Crazy deer in my back yard.

Post #19 says the deer is already dead, Ken.
And Wildlife already took it away.

CWD doesn't affect humans.
It isn't a virus or a bacteria. Or a fungus. Or a parasite.
It's a protein disorder only affecting cervids (deer, elk, moose).

Uh that is soooooooo incorrect there ants. Prions can and have been spread to humans. And Prions are what spread the problem among the animals. If the disease is pretty far along and spinal or brain fluids has leaked into the bloodstream then eating that meat could very well transmit the disease to a human.

I certainly defer to you, Freedom Fighter. I'm no disease expert at all. You'll get no argument from me.

I cannot find any record of prions from cervid (deer) being transmitting to humans. That's why I said CWD (not prions in general, CWD specifically) hasn't affected humans. I was being very specific in that post.

I'm going by the all reading available to me since 2003, so I truly respect Freedom Fighter for helping me out. Is there case history where cervid chronic wasting disease has been transmitted to a human? I appreciate your help.

bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) overseas appears to be related to human deaths from a new variant of a previously identified neurologic disease, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD)

Not CWD but it has been very difficult to pin down the various mind altering diseases that we humans come down with and all of their apparent causes. Simple fact of nature is, if it can affect one mammal it can affect any other mammal. Some mammals may have natural resistance to any number of infectious type diseases but still yet have affects from the same disease. Laying out a blanket "no you can't contract any problems from them" is basically sticking your head in the sand and hoping.

A buck was hit by a car and thrown into a yard across from my house. The police were called and the CHP showed up. The officer wanted to put the buck down and had the home owner's permission to fire a weapon on his property, but the city police department would not give the officer permission to discharge his weapon inside the city limits. The city police could not respond because they were busy, and Fish and Game were hours away. The CHP officer stood by until the buck "passed away".

This is PC at its worst. The animal was left to suffer. The officer had his shotgun out and could have put it down without endangering anyone.

With all these reports of birds, fish, and cows dropping dead I would think they would perform an autopsy on this deer.
