i own a crescent firearms model unknown 16gauge double barrel shotgun. i dont know much about it, but would like to. if anyone knows where i can get a new buttstock for it, i would much appreciate it. also if there are any gunsmiths out there who know about these guns, i need the tension spring for the breach opener replaced.

Cresecent

I just ran a search on crescent shotguns, dropped by 1932,owned by stevens for a short time.Hardware guns, they would put any name to their few models ie hardware stores etc. Is it tight lockup? fireing pin extend through breach excessive? Twist barrels? if lockup was tight i would only fire black powder presure loads or black powder loads. I have a hammerless Elsie w/twist barrels
that I shoot, with 75gr ffg and 1oz load of shot and fiber wads.

not sure about the twist barrels, i believe the two barrels have two different chokes modified and full. its not black powder it shoots normal smokeless powder shells. its safety is on top, normal right hand thumb push. it breaks down into three easy pieces. there is a tensioner piece inside the mechanism for the break open action which actually disappearred thats why i need a gunsmith near central texas.

What chamber size is it? If 2-1/2, I would avoid firing standard 2-3/4" shells in it - pressures can spike somewhat higher than the gun might like.

Crescent guns, as mentioned, were typically made as house-brand guns for hardware stores.

The old Numrich Arms, now known as gunpartscorp: http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ might have the parts

I would suggest that you have a gunsmith inspect it before shooting it.

The barrels may or may not be designed for modern load pressures.
