Once fired range brass
230 gr. Mil.Surplus pulled FMJ bullet
Federal Large Pistol Primer
5.6 grains Win. Autocomp.
Seated at 1.25 o.a.l
The goal for this load was to reduce felt recoil.
Winchester reloading data is 6.0 grain min. at 1.20 Oal. Am I too light on this load? Im shooting it through a Springfield XD 4" and everything cycles fine, its throwing the brass good. I just wanna see what yalls opion was on it.

Am I too light on this load?

If the load cycles your pistol, is accurate as you want the its fine. as long as it fulfills your needs then our opinion isn't important.

Personally I prefer using lead 200gr LSWC's that are usually less expensive than a jacketed bullet for light loads.

I looked into those, but what i see the XD doesnt like the Semi Wad cutter.
I'm new to reloading and wanted to make sure I wouldnt do any premature wearing to my gun or anything by shooting a light load

The only warning I would suggest is be careful of going to low with an FMJ bullet. Sticking a bullet in the barrel is a quick way to KB any firearm, if you should inadvertantly miss it. Other than that, if it is getting them out of the barrel and cycling the action, your fine.

If you have a chronograph you might want to check them for MV, and then see if that MV checks out as being reasonably reliable to clear the barrel.
