first off, I don't want to start a discussion about what bows are better and so forth, if you think this one is junk because of a brand name, please keep that to yourself, I've read all the internet reviews... I can afford this one and it's all I can get.
I am looking at trading an old jon boat for a barnett quad 400 tomorrow. I have a few questions.
How is the best way to tell if the limbs are cracked? I read about a cotton ball method, are there better ways?
What else should I look for on a used lower grade crossbow for signs of failure?
Judging a book by it's cover this fella doesn't strike me as "the sharpest broadhead in the quiver"... so I wouldn't be surprised if he somehow mistreated this bow, I'm looking for ADVICE on what to check for so I don't get "the shaft" as far as a bow with parts that are already failing. I am competent with bows, but this will be my first crossbow so just looking for advice on the matter. Thank you for responding in true High Road style
p.s. sorry for the puns, couldn't resist!
