As you can see, you're not alone on this one. I, too, am left eye, right hand dominant. If you're keeping tally, I shoot right on pistol, right on long guns. I'll also admit, it took a long time to realise that I was left eye'd. Because I had been sighting with my right eye for so long, I just got used to it. It wasn't until I switched to contacts a little while back and the optometrist pointed it out to me that I knew!

I'm left eye dominant but right handed. For long guns, I have to keep my left eye closed. For pistols, I just keep both eyes open and line up the sights with my dominant eye. I shoot my bow right handed too, have to keep the left eye closed. I started training myself to shoot both eyes open, but if I lose concentration, I'll completely miss the target. Arrows are expensive...

Left handed – right eye dominant here.

I shoot right handed. It may feel weird to shoot with your wrong hand for a while. But if you want to shoot well you are most likely going to have to.
It’s pretty hard to fight Mother Nature. :banghead: You can do it, but I think it’s ultimately a lot easier to just go with the flow. :)
Good Luck

I'm a new shooter still waiting for permit in NY, but in taking the basic safety course the instructor said I should learn to shoot with my left hand because I am left eye dominant. But I am really (really) strongly right-handed, where left-eye dominance is because my left eye was 20-20 when I was a teen while my right was something like 20-300. Over the years they have become more closely matched but I wear glasses to correct both (with different size lenses). So I am most likely going to shoot right-handed and just try to re-train my eyes for shooting.

Does closing your left eye help?

I actually learned that before I ever shot a gun. My fiance had me do the little "test" and I figured out I was LED. I attempted to aim with my right eye, but I just can NOT get the sights to line up! Shooting lefty just feels natural to me at this point, but I'm used to it I guess. The only problem is finding the right stocks and some guns tend to shoot the cartridges right at your face because they're made for righties. But that's easily remedied.
