FYI, the Crossman 760 is on sale at Wally World for $20.00, (pink only). I know it is not a premium air rifle, but I remember my old one from the early 70's. They are built much differently than they were back then. I am thinking that they are about a third the overall weight, if that. Backyard plinker material.

That a good price. I'm pretty sure I had that same model 30 years ago.

I paid more than that for mine back in the '70s. Considering inflation, it's cheaper today. As for the stock, paint it.

It ain't the same. As I post this, I looked at the owner's manual. NINE MILES AWAY from the same item. Tomorrow morning we might take a shot or two. I will save my opinion until I take a few shots. Fffffffffffff. I will do my best. After coffee of course.

Not surprised, I could've told Crosman the pink one would be a dud. Good price I suppose but I'd pass on pink even if it was free. I did paint a plastic one camo so I suppose that or whatever color is an option.
It's a shame they aren't rifled. My first one as a wee lad was wood but no idea if rifled. Later I got one that was smooth bore but got a rifled barrel for it from a newer model. Crosman parts are cheap so I suppose if you can figure out which had the rifled barrel, and by chance it fits, it might be worth getting?

I bought one a few years ago, mostly out of nostalgia for the one I had in the late 60's. The new ones are plastic junk. My old one had a plastic stock, but the receiver was metal and it had a rifled bore.

I threw my new one away. If I had actually opened the package to inspect it I would have never left the store with it.

They're probably on clearance because of their "high capacity" assault magazine...

My 760 from the early 70's was as heavy as my .22 at the time. I still have the 22. The 760 mysteriously left my posession. I had to be careful not to pinch my hand while pumping the 760. The last couple of the recommended 10 or so pumps was difficult.

Does a smooth bore help or hurt a bb's accuracy? (Real Question). I have been told it helps bb's by some, others say a rifled bore hurts bb and helps pellets.

Tomorrow I will do a test with thine pink 760. I only need about 20 feet with 1.5" groups to get er done. That is not much to ask. Rats run rampant. Rats, well they are rats. The Glock might draw too much attention.

I was so mad when one of my buddies dropped my 760 down a drainage culvert.

I view it as a beauty mark now.

My dad put that shoelace on the forearm after the roll pin finally gave way.
May he rest in peace for almost 20 years now.
He bought the rifle for me as a Christmas present back in the early 70's.

WWII conscript.
Trying to look gangsta on post in Panama.

I've had this one for 35 years. It's not a 760 but a 761xl which I've never heard of. It still works and I do shoot it some times.

After searching the internet I learned a lot about the 761xl. It had a rifled barrel where the 760 did not have one in the beginning runs. Also has a different hammer setup, wood and the brass like coating.

They're worth about $50 from what I see.

I bought a new 760 with my birthday money in 1978. I think it was between 30 and 40 dollars at KMart. I simply wore it out.
