I watched a 66-2 M&P pinned and recessed walk into the gun shop with its owner. Owner needed money, gun shop bought it for $150 which was the owners suggestion. I cry that I didn't have the money and two that the guy would sell a nice piece like that for a few bucks. I know the gun shop guy pretty well, I'll be able to get a good deal on it but it won't be $150. I couldn't have bought it out from under him anyway, bad for business. Did I mention the owner carried it in in it's original box with all original paperwork and it looked like new? :( Please, if you love your guns keep $500 in the bank all the time so you don't end up like that guy!

I might be mistaken, but the -2 engineering change came around '82 and eliminated the P&R. Might have been -1, the best version. Joe

Thought it was a -2. Might be wrong. I know it was P&R and beautiful though. Worst I ever did was pawn a few of my guns. No big deal except they weren't on paper until I unhocked them. Money in the bank is good! Then there was the pawn shop that I watched give $50 for a NIB 870 and a mossberg .410 together. I offered $100 to the pawnshop for the 870 alone. No dice. I did buy a Vaquero .44 for $200 in the same shop I saw the 66 in after the manager declined to buy them. Would have bought both the guy was selling if I had $400 in my wallet. Bought a Randall #1 for $260 because a guy needed a new fishfinder during striper season.
