Yeah, thanks guys, the Glocks and 1911's are fine weapons and I am glad that you love yours but they just don't cut is as pocket pistols for the octogenarian set. Ivan

Not a Glock of any type,

furthermore I doubt the polymer Glocks will still be functional in thirty years. The plastic outgasses and changes chemical composition over time and self destructs. Dont believe me? Take a look at '70s dashboards. I'll send forward a nice all steel CZ clone and my pockets are plenty big enough!! Caliber, well at least a .40 and if I find another to keep in the present time I'll send my Witness 10MM along with some serious ammo.:neener:

Marty, you are a supreme optimist. Do you really think you are going to want to shoot 10mm when you are 80? Best wishes, Ivan

P.S. Good point on the plastic guns.

IVAN

Why not? I'm 68yrs old now and still compete in IPSC as well as run around my mountains at will shooting bigger badder pistols than my 700+ ft.lb. 10mm.:D

I'm 65 and there ain't a mountain in the Ozarks I can't climb. Now our mountains aren't that high, but they're sure as hell steep.;)

A couple things...

1. Glocks are made of a different, better plastic than 70's dashboards.*
2. They are not (usually!) left to bake in the sun 365 days a year.
3. The first Glocks, almost 30 years old, are still going strong.

Sorry to debunk your myths.

*The same way a revolver is made of better steel/aluminum than say, a mailbox.

Other. I'd put away my S&W Model 38. It is easily carried, easy to clean, and a respectable SD caliber. I wouldn't want one of the super lightweight models because I already have arthritis and even the smaller caliber featherweights have a painful "snap" to them. Plus titanium is a bit harder to clean than steel.

Other.

3 inch Ruger GP100 fixed sights, small grips.
-Able to shoot anything from .38 to .357.
-Heavy enough to absorb most recoil.
-Small enough to conceal.
-Cheap enough to not worry about burying in a time capsule.
-Accurate.
-Reliable to a fault.
-Makes a great hammer if necessary.

Bury with 200 rounds of your ammo of choice and you are good to go.
