Hi All:

Project Appleseed in CT has been hard at work signing up ranges and dates. We still have five events for the remainder of this year and we're working on filling the calendar for 2011.

I wanted to highlight in particular our "Pumpkinseed" on October 30-31, 2010 at none other than Blue Trail Range in Wallingford! It's our first shoot in Southern CT and will be the largest Appleseed in CT to date. Should be a great time, so if you've ever hesitated to go to an Appleseed because they were "too far north" from you, this is the shoot for you.

And if you can't make Blue Trail, come on out to any of our other events:

August 28-29, 2010: Chaplin, CT (Fin, Fur & Feather Club)
Event Info | Pre-Register

September 18-19, 2010: E. Granby, CT (Hartford Gun Club)
Event Info | Pre-Register

October 30-31, 2010: Wallingford, CT (Blue Trail Range)
Event Info | Pre-Register

November 20-21, 2010: E. Granby, CT (Hartford Gun Club)
Event Info | Pre-Register

December 4-5, 2010: Colebrook, CT (NWCSA)
Event Info | Pre-Register

As always, post here or PM with questions.

Oh and one more thing: Tune in to Fox & Friends on the Fox News Channel this Monday, August 30 during the 8:00am ET hour. An RWVA spokesperson will be on to talk about Appleseed and our tremendous growth. Don't miss it!

Thanks for helping make Appleseed such a huge success here in CT and across the nation!

See you on the firing line,
CJ

I am very interested in the Blue Trail event (and can probably convince my in-laws to attend as well) but I'm confused by the pricing. Is it $70, plus the $15 Blue Trail range fees?

Hi MK11,

Yes, the range fee is in addition to the $70 ticket price and is charged by the host range. Please note that the range fee is collected at the event. Also note that women, under 21, and active military attend for free, but are not exempt from this host range's fees.

Hope to see you there!

CJ

I have already signed up for the one at that Hartford Gun Club. I refuse to go to Blue Trails, I have gotten raped $$$$ badly enough by them.

Trashing BTR is unkind and not particularly fair. Mr. Lyman and all the Rifle team coaches are tireless promoters of shooting sports and the NRA, and given the attacks the range has weathered, I feel like they deserve better than that. It's the public range in our state where new shooters are introduced to the shooting sports.

It's also the public range to go to if you enjoy getting muzzle swept and paying more to shoot than it costs to rent a car for a day.

It is a shame that their 200yd was closed down; (because their neighbors across the ridge were collecting surprisingly intact .50bmg rounds in their yards like Easter eggs, or so i heard). I was a loyal customer until that point, but the duffers on the 100yd line there scare me.

I just looked at their site and it seems they've changed their pricing structure since the last time i went up there.

INDIVIDUAL
WEEKDAYS - $29.00
per day, no time limit. (per person shooting)
Women and Children under 16 $26.00 per day

WEEKENDS/HOLIDAYS
$29.00 1st hour, $10.00 each additional hour.
Women and Children under 16 - $26.00 first hour

$30 was my annual range fee before i moved here....now its per hour? I don't see how renting a lane for this $$$ can attract many new shooters to the sport.

I hope Appleseed will do a better job at that than BTR does.

Range fees are charged by host ranges and not by Appleseed. We don't set the host range rates, and from time to time, we get the occasional range that donates range time.

But it is what it is.

I will say though that the range fee at BTR is $15 per person per day and not hourly. So an Appleseed will be one of the only ways you get to shoot an entire weekend at BTR for $30 (not including Appleseed's ticket). :) Furthermore, the Appleseed will take place at the Bullseye pistol range of which Appleseed will have full control (i.e. we are not shooting with or near the public).

I spent a fortune at BTR so I have every right to voice my displeasure. I used to shoot their at least once a week at $30+ a pop. I understand they have come under legal attack, all to well. But their pricing structure is silly, and quite frankly I got tired of getting yelled at by the range officers every time I went for rapid fire before I even started shooting or stuck a mag in my rifle. The straw that broke the camels back for me was when they tried to charge me an extra hour because I stayed for a bit over an hour since their cease fire was almost 20 minutes long! Instead of saying sorry we are a bit short staffed today they had the balls to try to get another $10 out of me, I told them to stuff it and will never set foot on their property again.

They need a good class in eco 101, if they charged $10 an hour instead of $30 all their bench's would be full and they would make more money. Everytime I set foot on their property all I get is the impression they are trying to suck every cent out of me they can, to pay for their legal fee's. Its bad business.
