I am purchasing a 340PD and would like to include the lasergrips. Without having any way of putting the LG305 or 405 in my hand, which model do you recommend for pocket carry?

I got rid of my 340PD just before I was about to buy lasergrips for it. Too much recoil for me.

However, I did the research you're doing right now and the answer was overwhelming to get model LG-405. Apparently it provides more cushion and at the same time pocket carries very well.

I've held both btw - and 405 seems more comfortable indeed.

for pocket carry the shorter 405 (its boot grip length) would be better.its what I use.also the padding make it much more tolarable to shoot.

I have the 305 on my 637 snubby. If I had to do it over again, I'd get the 405. For that matter, I'd get the 642 instead of the 637 . . .

for pocket carry, definitely the 405.

I own both, and the comments about both are correct--that is, obviously the 405 is more concealable and easier to pocket carry; the 405 is more comfortable to shoot. The 305 is installed on a 640, and the 405 is installed on an M&P340.

However, I have had trouble with the rubber recoil pocket unseating from the left grip on the 405--see this link:

Since it has not had a lot of response, my guess is that it is a personal issue: I use my hand 'differently' in the way I grip the revolver. So, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase and use the 405.

I might add that since I wrote that, I've fired another 40 rounds or so with a lighter .357 reload, and the recoil pocket did not separate further.

I have never shot the 305s. I have two sets of 405s for pocket carry on two different J Frames. I have no problem shooting 50 rounds of +P comfortably on range days,

Just for the fun of it pick up a set of Hogue Monogrips too some day and try them out. You can carry them in deep pockets. They are a full grip and are amazing on a J frame.

I have no idea which model I have. I can tell you that I fired the boot grip on a friends gun and decided to go with the grip that was full sized and rubber. It also has the switch on the bottom to turn it off.

This is my every day carry. It is on a S&W model 49 and I can hit 50 yard targets with it in low light.

Do not get the 105s. I made that mistake. I quickly sold them. It made the 340PD hard to control and hurt badly when shooting. The OEM rubber grips are way nicer and even then don't cover the backstrap, I found them much more comfortable to shoot.

The LG405s are nice. Very comfortable. I have decided not to use a laser on my 340PD. I sold mine. I bought a revolver because they are simple and reliable. The laser just complicated things for me.

I tested how good I could aim without using any sights at all. I would hold my gun in the dark without looking at the sights, point towards a dimly light object. I would then turn on the laser. The laser was almost always where I wanted to shoot. This was at normal self defense ranges (20 feet or less).
