Before, I start, I'd like to admit that I am a cheap guy.:D I just recently purcahsed a Mosin Nagant 91/30 and a Yugo Mauser 24/47. I am wanting to add a scope on one of them or both of them on the long run.

I have searched the web and found out that you could eihter spend more by having the bolts bent and have a scoped mount drilled and tap on the receiver..or go cheap and have the rear sight replaced by a cheaper scope mount.

For the smarter people than me out there, what are your comments on rear leaf mounted scopes? Are they stable, do they fit well, can they hold and stay true after multiple shots? Thanks for your responses.:)

I bought a Mauser mount from Midway USA especially designed to use with minimally altered Mausers. It's a rather high mount that allows you to operate the original up/down safety, rather than replacing with a custom left/right safety.

I drilled and tapped it myself then cut off the bolt with a hacksaw. Had a friend weld it back on at an angle for a case of beer. Cut a nock in the reciever to match the bent bolt to the safety. Here it is....
