Hey guys just recently i bought a scope mount for my mosin nagant, i put it on had it all tightened down and took it to the range - 3 shots later it fell right off. following week re-mounted the scope mount and locktited the 2 bolts - still 3 shots later it was off... any suggestions on how to get this damn thing to stay on? Someone posted about Red locktight and Jb welding it on. half tempted to do unless someone can give me a idea on what to try - thanks guys!
this is the URL for the one i purchased. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mosin-Nagant-91-30-rear-Sight-to-Picatinny-Weaver-Rail-Adapter-Scope-Mount-/321698663134?hash=item4ae6bc0ade:g:I3QAAOSwBahVCLA8

Your issue has nothing to do with how tight the screws are. The scope is heavy relative to the amount of dovetail that is available for the mount to grab. The inertia of the scope is causing the rifle to literally slide under it with recoil. You need either a stop or set screw to prevent forward movement in the dovetail.

It's a $10 mount. I don't think you can expect much. I haven't seen any rear sight mount scope mounts that work well. Between my brother and myself we have tried 3. All 3 are fubar. One of them looked a lot like what you have. Other then tightening the screws to the point you think they might shear I don't know what else you can do.

If I was going to scope a Mosin, I'd go with a sturdy scout scope & mount set up. That way, you could still use the stripper clips.

Although this You-Tuber dude chopped his Mosin to SBR specs (with collapsible stock), he's running an MRD (H-1) on a rock solid scout mount and loads the thing with stripper clips.
