My only gripe about both is that hear you have two very nice handguns but Ruger apparently thinks those crappy black plastic handgrips are wonderful. They really cheapen the overall appearance of the pieces.

I hear ya'! I hate those cheesy looking black plastic grips that come on the new Ruger revolvers. First thing I did when I bought the Flattop .44 Special was order a set of Ruger's rosewood grips for it. They at least looked halfway decent on the gun and were a big improvement over the original plastic ones. Then a couple of months later I received my American Holly grips from Private's Custom Grips and they just made the gun look so much better.

The bad news is that it is entirely possible to buy a new Ruger revolver
and discover serious quality issues. I know this from personal experience.

The good news is that Ruger always seems willing to fix the problems
that you discover, if you can discover them.

It is unfortunate that the customer has to inspect Ruger products
after they have left the factory.

One day, Ruger might learn that real customer service means
inspecting guns BEFORE THE GUNS LEAVE THE FACTORY.

Incidentally, Smith and Wesson has the same problem with poor
quality control.

Two out of the four Ruger single actions I have bought over the last decade needed to be sent back for repair. These were new guns with issues out of the box.

On the plus side, after sorting out, all have proven rugged, accurate, and a joy to shoot.

EVERY new firearm from every manufacturer should be thoroughly inspected by the buyer before filling out a 4473.

Or more guns are being produced than ever before, more people are buying guns than ever before and more people who find problems are complaining about it on the internet.
