Today I chronograph ed my standard loads out of my 7 WSM today I have a Brux 26" SS 9" twist bbl. 69grs of Re#19 behind a Hornady 139gr SST produced an average muzzel velocity of 3550 ! I couldn't believe it ? I then shot my 22 auto pistol through the chronograph and it read 1100 fps and that was what it should've been. Then my 45 auto 890 fps so was that ! So thumbs up for Brux bbls !!!!

That velocity sounds pretty suspect.

Maybe your screens are too close and you are measuring muzzle blast.

What RC said.

OP, you did some good diagnostics/problem solving by shooting the 22 and 45 across your chrony but the blast from the 7 WSM is much more substantial. It could be have blast issues that wouldn't be showing up with the pistols. You did establish that the chrony seems to be mechanically (electrically?) sound. Try moving the screens.

Good Luck,

Dan

thats probley about right shootin a RL powder with a really light bullet in a magnum case. why not maximize the round with a heavy high BC bullet tho?

Muzzle Braked rifle

I have a brake on it. The 139gr Hornady is perfect for Water Filled Rock Star cans. Also any coyote are varmint. If I draw a Big game Tag ? I'll load the appropriate bullet ....... I'm amazed as every one else these high velocities, looking forward to shooting them through some one else's chronograph.
