I tend to accumulate 'junk' cap-and-ball revolvers, either for parts or to make cartridge conversions out of them. Last year I stumbled onto a Well's Fargo reproduction and decided to convert it to make a test-gun for .251 TCR. I turned a new cylinder out of 4140, got it timed, but switched gears to a heavier gun for testing. The WF lay around partly finished. A couple weeks ago I decided to finish it and have been working on it in my spare time. Tonight I finished it!
In addition to re-barreling the gun I also converted it to a sheathed spur-trigger; the trigger-guard on the gun was too small for my big fat fingers. The trigger is mostly concealed when the hammer is down, but pops out when the gun is cocked.
Still a few details, mainly cosmetic, to deal with, like replacing the old, worn grips.
