Tapco's introduction of the adaptor to replace thumbhole stocks (with the no lower tang) with a tube to use AR-type tubes on milled receivers was a breakthrough for me, but not because I want to use an AR stock on my AK.
I'm a disabled vet. The limp and numbness in my hands has degenerated into a level of paralysis that requires adaptive equipment to continue shooting.
Does anybody know where or how one gets that super hard polymer shaped as desired?
I pretty much have to design my own equipment, but if I knew where to get custom molds produced I could configure all kinds of equipment to make pulling a triggèr a much easier task.
I've googled "molds" "Zytel" custom fabrication etc
I'd appreciate any input.

Make it easier

Still fishing for a clue.
It doesn't have to be Zytel (or even polymer).
If I had the dimensions drawn out and wanted it in ..aluminum...
Somebody must have conceptualized a part that would make something work.
How would you get it machined, molded, extruded (etc) if the dimensions are too precise for your garage work?

Contact Tapco, maybe they could put you in touch with their supplier. I've found them helpful in customer support.

Depending on the stress the part endures and its size, you might try and find someone with a 3D printer, with in its limits this technology is revolutionizing prototyping and "small run" production.

If there is a "Maker-Faire" in your area, go there and you might meet someone with a 3D printer that'd be willing to help out a disabled vet.

Im not sure exactly what your looking for but you might find it by finding someone who is capable of using a 3d modeling program like solid works and has access to a 3d printer. Nearly anything you can think of can be printed, at least within some size constraints. Try your local universities engineering department...perhaps some grad student is lookig for a project

3d

Yeah,
I've been hearing about the 3D programs for CAM repros of the AR lower receiver.
I assumed that with all the places that machine parts "as needed" for tooling, this would be as easy as calling a custom polymer parts manufacturer.
But nobody seems to do that, or I don't know how to look.
I've been going around and around with the CA DOJ
There's a Zahal buttstock attachment that would facilitate better control of my handguns - I'm just about too old to fire them, safely, anymore.
They issue a license to movie companies for the firearms they use for movies. I asked for a SBR license based on my need for it as adaptive equipment, because, technically, CA law would define my handgun as a short-barreled rifle (SBR) if I use it.
They said "No", they were only available if you were shooting a movie.
So I asked if having my video camera behind me for a "documentary" film would qualify me. They said no, but when I pressed them for the reason, they said someone would get back to me.
They didn't. I called back, but they were prepared: commercial licenses etc.
So I tried to enlist the help of the ADA, but the "citizens" there tend to be anti-gun. That isn't the kind of intervention they embrace.
I really want to move back to AR. I DO hate this state.

Maker-Faire

Btw
Thanks for the "maker-Faire" lead.
Just googled it, and I think I've found something.
