Here's my Kobra Carry with Carry Cuts. Best 1911 I have ever owned, and I've owned quite a few!;)

Just sold a Wilson Protector and ordered a Ed Brown Special Forces SF-SS-G3 with naked slide, recessed slide stop and carry cuts.
Should be here before Christmas!

AEA, that's a beautiful 1911. There aren't many products that exceed my expectations every time, but Ed Brown 1911s are definitely in that group. I have a Special Forces and Special Forces Carry, and ordered a Special Forces Light Rail with a bunch of extras and "custom" features. Like you, I'll have to wait a while. There's a reason why it only took my LGS two days to get me a new Valor and V-Bob but I had to wait four months for the Special Forces. I expect my next one will be here a few weeks before Christmas. Here's my entry level Special Forces Carry. I need to take some photos of the Special Forces with it.

Thanks for the compliment! Yours looks very nice as well! How do you like the Gen3? I am hoping the Gen3 will be durable over the SS in the SF-SS-G3 I have on order.

Yup, Ed Brown makes some really fine handguns, that's for sure!

I like stainless slides and frames with some form of coating or chemical finish, preferably the latter. Gen III is the only coating that Ed Brown offers so that was my only choice, but basically it's just a paint finish (as far as I know). It's a lot easier and cheaper to get a 1911 refinished by someone like Dave Severns with Hard Hat than it is to get the pistol built properly from the start. I do my own Cerakote and GUN-KOTE to rifles, pistols and parts so I always have the option to refinish the Ed Browns myself. Would I be happier if Ed Brown offered a Melonite, Hard Hat or Tenifer ferritic nitrocarburizing type finish ... sure. But even those finishes aren't immune to damage. One of my Dan Wessons came with a fine scratch on the frame so those finishes aren't indestructible. However, the bottom line for me is that I'm a shooter and not a collector. Tools wear ... no big deal!! I'll take scratches over corrosion any day of the week.

Recently bought an Ed Brown Special forces (very lightly used}. They are really nice pieces of machinery and almost artwork. Not so much that they LOOK so nice (which they do to me) but that they are so well set up to do just EXACTLY what they are supposed to do and do it so well. I surely am pleased with mine.

I agree 110%.

My experience with my two NIB Ed Browns is that they show up exceeding all reasonable expectations. There's no barrel movement when in battery; the slide to frame fit is amazing with no detectable lateral or horizontal play and yet glassy smooth when racking the slide; the thumb safety is perfect with just the right amount of effort required to engage/disenage; the magazine release is glassy smooth both when inserting or removing a magazine; and there aren't any burrs inside the frame to drag/gouge the magazine or trigger. I've also found Ed Brown pistols to be extremely accurate. I'm a practical shooter rather than a bullseye shooter so if a 1911 is 100% reliable and can shoot 2" groups at 25 yards off a rest it's a keeper. Luckily for me, Ed Browns are easily capable of both. I ordered another Ed Brown after the last debacle with two 1911s from a company that shall remain nameless. I don't need that kind of stress or disappointment.

I ordered the Heinie rear sight on my latest Ed Brown and will be upgrading to Heinie ledge sights on my current Special Forces and possibly on my Special Forces Carry. For USPSA, Heinie straight eight sights are a big improvement over three dot sights (for me anyway). The other upgrade I've made is VZ grips all round. I prefer aggressive ETC or Double Diamond G10 grips for USPSA.
