Well ok, sort of... :D

I was thinking about getting some skateboard tape to cover front portion of the grip to make it more "grippy" for when I'm outdoors and hot and sweaty. I was wondering if anyone sells any type of custom grip tape? I looked on ebay and saw some camo skateboard tape, but the pattern looks to large to show up on the small area in the front of my grips. :scrutiny: :D

Also, does anybody make any rubber grips similar to the Butler Creek custom grips that are better than the smoothish factory plastic ones?

I got a roll of 3M grip tape at Home Depot. I put some on the front strap of my Kahr K40. I kept the edges about 1/8 inch in from the rubber grips so the edges don't rub against my skin or shirt when in a holster. Also, I cut the top and bottom edges in a half circle just because it looks nice that way and there are no corners to snag and peel up. (No pictures because my digital camera is broken.) Skate and surf shops usually have many different colors of grip tape if you want something other than black.

Hogue makes a rubber slip-on grip that has finger grooves in front and a palm swell on each side. I used one of those on a Firestar M40 and it was quite comfortable and stayed in place very well. Also, I think it is Uncle Mike's that has a slip on grip. That one doesn't have the palm swells. I have never used that one so I don't know how comfortable it is. A lot of guns stores sell the slip-on grips because they can be used on a variety of different guns.

I hope some of these suggestions help.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not interested in the slip on grips. I was hoping their was a steel lined rubber grip made by somebody like Pearce or Butler Creek that was similiar to the factory checkered wood grips.

I got plain skateboard griptape for free at a skate shop. I was going to buy a whole sheet when I noticed several scraps on the table. When I said I didn't need a whole sheet and asked how much for the 6"x6" scrap, he said I could have it.

BTW, it works GREAT on my K9.

Chris

I'm definately leaning towards the skateboard tape, though the 3M Grip tape has got me curious! Thanks for the suggestions so far. I may just have to lobby Butler Creek/Uncle Mike's to make a rubber Kahr grip for the K, MK and T series models, and see what they say??? :D I think it would be a hot seller.

Ok, I got some grip tape a couple of weeks ago and just stuck it on cuz I was lazy. But I finally got around to doing it right. I cut the tape so that it goes just under the plastic grips a little ways. Enough so that it's secure. Not too much though. I don't want it to interfere with magazine changes.

Now I just need to figure out what to do about the back slippery part of the plastic grips. I don't undestand why Kahr does this. On the PM9 they have grip ridges on both the front and the back, but on the MK9, it's totally smooth.

I bought some pre-made grip tape for a PM9 a while back. Surely there is something similar for an MK9. Try an Google search.

Reading over on the CTC lasergrip messageboard I hear talk that CTC is considering producing some for Kahrs. I was actually surprised that they didn't offer one for the K9. CTC rubber lasergrips for the MK9!!!!

Now that would be kickass!

I am thinking about getting my Kahr K-9 front grip checkered. I have seen it on a few Kahrs and it always knock me out. Such a little thing but it makes it looks really good.

I thought about that, but I think the skateboard tape works better for my purposes with this piece and it seems to have alot of grip. And then there's the expense and not having the gun for so long while it's off being done.

What a set of grips or something? I don't know what you're referring to.

According to what I was told by the Crimson Trace rep, lasergrips for the MK9/MK40 & K9/K40 will be a reality, but not until at least next year sometime.
