Cutting a barrel down on a Super Blackhawk

I have a friend who wants to have the barrel on his 10in Ruger Super Blackhawk cut down to 6in so he can holster it and carry it in Bear country. It is stainless so what should he expect to pay a smith to cut it and replace the front sight?

He might consider contacting Ruger about just swapping out the barrel to a 5 1/2".

They were only $55.50 on this old 2002 price list.

Probably be cheaper in the long run then cutting it and making a new sight ramp etc.

Yep, rebarrel it. No regrets later on down the road, the 10" barrel can always be put back on.
