Well, here is the 8th CVA Hawken I took in and fully restored. I still have some small work to do like straighten out the hammer and polish the lock internals but other than that, shes a beauty! This one actually has a walnut stock versus the typical beechwood found on cva's sidelocks.

.54cal slow twist barrel.

Waiting on the rear sight to arrive as well.

Got another CVA Hawken in the works as well which will be a .54cal ( new barrel going to be installed) Flintlock. Shes on the chopping block next and then a NICELY figured CVA Mountain Rifle with the made in USA stamped Douglas barrel in .50cal percussion.

Beautiful work. Just got a .50 Mountain Rifle delivered today to join the .54 and .58. Also have a .45 Kentucky that I built from a kit back in the '70's. A .54 Hawken and a .50 Double Express Rifle. Plus a .32 Squirrel Rifle Kit that I need to get around to finishing. Guess I need a .45 Mountain Rifle yet. Darned things just seem to multiply. Or maybe they are addictive.

Good looking job of browning the barrel.. That's the way they should look.

Very nice restoration job! The wood and metal finish look fantastic.

Gorgeous. Makes me want to send you mine to "restore." I built it when I was 14, had no knowledge, and no tools. But I love it.

Don't make the same mistake I did years ago in watching a Marx Brothers movie on TV while working on a rifle kit.

Had to order a new rear sight to replace the one I filed waaaaaaaay too far down for its dovetail.
Learned a valuable lesson there: the Marx Brothers are not conducive to best concentration while fitting small parts. :)

That right there is both funny and informative. Should also apply to watching the Three Stooges, W.C. Fields, and Laurel and Hardy.
