I bought this back in '95-'96ish. Knight was way ahead of the game with their inlines, other companies were catching up. Fish and Game agencies were trying to write hunting regulations that could bring inlines into the muzzleloading fold. Every state game commission had a different view.

This particular CVA seemed to be short lived. I bought it new at a discount for $80.00 from the company. It's a strange gun in that it was like a 'bridge' between the traditional and the newer inlines. The rifling is 1:32" twist, it's drilled and tapped for a scope rail, the hammer spur is off set to the side for scope clearance, and it has a modern adj. rear sight. The monte carlo stock is wood (birch or maple) covered in a textured coating. Other than all of that; it fit the 'traditional' muzzleloader hunting regulations at that time. Never did mount a scope on it, kept it as is.

CVA made a conical lead bullet it loves called the 'buck slayer'. I hoarded a bunch of those. Never tried the Lee REAL bullets. It didn't like buffalo bullets. Couldn't find a sabot it liked. Finally figured out that 40 grs. of pyrodex would shoot a patched round ball just as accurately as 80 grs with that buck slayer bullet. Lost track of the number of whitetails I killed with this one gun using either of those loads. The light load will drop 6" at 100 yards and put a round ball straight through a deer from side to side at 70 yards (furthest I have taken a deer with round balls). I think the tighter twist allows the pressure to build up behind the round ball before it exits, but any more powder will tear the patches and throw the bullets off the aiming point.

Didn't draw any blood this year during the early muzzleloader season. Hell, I didn't even see any deer. Yet, we all have rifles that have proven their worth over time; this one for the price of four Andrew Jacksons has been priceless.
