Hey guys,

Any meaningful differences between the CZ 452 "special" and the CZ 452 Lux, save the non-walnut stock and the anodized finish on the reciever?

I hear these rifles drawing raves from those who own them, and I've got a line on a brand new one in .22 lr for $200. Should I grab it?

The stock is the only difference. I bought a CZ Special a couple years back and it's been great. I paid $200 and the prices have been going up it seems so I would buy and never look back. :)

Both excellent rifles. The Lux has an 11mm receiver so you'll pay $40 for rings. I don't know if the Special is 11mm or 3/8".

$200 is a good deal and well worth it.

The CZ-452 "Special" or "Trainer" is an excellent rifle, equal in quality to the higher priced models. The beech stock is certainly durable, if not quite as attractive as the walnut. The rifle is blued, not anodized (anodizing is a chemical hardening process for aluminum, not steel) and is very well finished. On mine, I had to relieve a little wood from the barrel channel to free-float the barrel; this task took all of 5 minutes with a screwdriver handle and some 100-grit sandpaper. With CCI Green Tag and my Weaver K4 aboard, my 452 trainer'll do one and a quarter inch groups at 100 yards off the bench. Not too shabby for $189 :)

Yup, ditto what they said. I've got the Military, and the only difference between it and my buddy's Lux is the stock. Bolt, receiver, barrel, etc., all identical. Both shoot exceedingly well. Iron sights are great on these rifles, great to train with. If I wanna go scoped, I pull out my 10/22. Also, try www.cz452.com for some goodies for the 452. I have Eric's trigger kit and aperture sight on mine. Good luck!

BamBam-31, Outstanding site for the 452. Thanks for posting it. :)

I ordered the ghost ring sight, and can't wait to try it.
