Would somone please help me decipher the differences between a CZ 452 Varmint and a CZ 453 Varmint?

The 453 has a single set trigger which is adjustable for weight. The 452's trigger is adjustable for weight. What's a single set trigger?

Has the CZ 453 varmint been seen in the wild yet, or is it just a picture in the brochure for now?

Does anything other than the trigger differ between the two models?

All of CZ's center fire rifles use a single set trigger. The 453 is just the rimfire with the same trigger. You can either use it like a normal trigger or SET it by pushing it forward till it clicks then you get a VERY light trigger pull.

If you can, stop by a dealer that sells the CZ centerfire rifles and try out one of their single set triggers. I have the CZ452 Varmint and a CZ centerfire. The single set is very nice, IMO, and easy to use.

Thanks for your help, fellas. I took your advice and had a dealer show me one of the CZ centerfire rifles with the single set trigger.

The regular trigger ain't bad at all. But when I pushed it forward and tried it in single-set mode, my heart skipped a beat, my feet left the floor, and angels sang. I must have a rifle with that trigger.

I did some reading over at rimfirecentral.com; plenty of messages there claim that I'll see no difference in accuracy between the American and the Varmint in 22lr. Since I'll take this gun hunting, I decided to save a pound and get the American rather than the Varmint.

IMHO the rules of the game have changed somewhat now that Savage offers the Accu-trigger on its rimfires.

Accu-trigger Varmint models with scope bases included for under $200, even with checkered hardwood stocks. Laminate for a little more. Not as pretty as a CZ in Turkish walnut, but worth a long, hard look, now that you don't have to factor an aftermarket trigger into the price of the Savage.

...not that anyone I've ever known has regretted buying anything from CZ...

Too bad you can't pick up a new 452 for $150 any more, like a few years ago.

BTW have you shouldered the American vs. the Varmint? They balance a bit differently. You might prefer the heavier gun, or not.

+1

I own both, and I much prefer the American (I prefer the Lux the most of the 3) but a couple of uncles and cousins really prefer the balance of the Varmint. Try picking them both up.

I just got my 452 Lux (used off of gunbroker). I am still learning how to use the adjustable sights, but I love the feel of it and it is much more accurate than I am. I am looking forward to "learning" from it... Mine's a .22lr but I wanted a rifle that I could use in a target league at the gun club I'm joining.
