I can't for the life of me find any difference between the CZ 452 Varmint and the CZ 453 Varmint except the price (.22LR). The 453 lists at about $75 more than the 452.

What am I missing here?

Single set trigger

A set trigger allows a shooter to have a greatly reduced trigger pull (the resistance of the trigger) while maintaining a degree of safety in the field. There are two types: Single Set and Double Set. A Single Set Trigger is usually one trigger that may be fired with a conventional amount of trigger pull weight or may be 'set' by usually pushing forward on the trigger. This takes up the creep in the trigger and allows the shooter to enjoy a much lighter trigger pull.

the set trigger is adjustable, from the outside, with just a small flat blade screwdriver. you can literally set this down as low as 'mindmeld' pull of the trigger. I know when I let dudes shoot my 527 carbine at the range, the look of surprise on their faces is priceless. the next words out of their mouths is usually, " I HAVE to get one of those!!"

The set trigger is a neat arrangement, but even so, one can adjust the CZ "standard" trigger to where it is a great instrument.

If they made the 453 in the mannlicher stock, I'd buy one of them. Since they don't, I await the irresistible impulse to buy a 452 mannlicher.

No finer trigger can be purchased on a factory rimfire made today.

Hardly. Go try out an Anschütz 5018 trigger.

Please note that this is only for adjusting the sear engagement in the set mode. If you would like to adjust the 453's trigger in the unset mode, you will have to take the action out of the stock. Be aware that trigger pull length is increased by quite a bit when it is set.

Rgs1975;

CZ's single-set trigger works like this: In normal operation, close the bolt, put the finger on the trigger & squeeze. Around 3lbs of squeeze later, bang! In single-set, close the bolt, from the rear push the trigger forward, it will click into position. With your finger off the trigger, obtain a sight picture. Then lightly place your finger on the trigger. Don't be surprised if it goes bang at that point.

In single-set, the pull on my CZ527 is in the single digit ounce territory.

I have a 453 varmint in 17HMR and I must say its one of the most accurate rifles at 100 yards I have ever fired. The single set trigger is so light and crisp that its actually difficult to pull a shot. The funny thing is, even if I don't set it, the trigger is still so wonderful that I actually find I shoot it better. The little bit of extra trigger pull weight helps me time the shot.

The other day I put 4 shots though about a .20 inch hole at 50 yards. My best group ever by far if you discount the 5th shot which made it .25 inch oblong hole. I don't know what the CTC would be but I was stoked.

CZ rifles and pistols are the best bang for the buck in the firearms.
