I am under the impression that the CZ 550 action is basically a Mauser. I'd really like one, but I don't care for the bolt sleeve and two position safety. Does anyone know if it is readily interchangeable with a more traditional Mauser bolt sleeve and three position safety?

<edit> Whoops! I mean the 550 action, of course. If there's a mod who can fix the title...

My CZ550 has a 2 position safety sorta like the Remington: forward = fire, back = safe.

I don't know what you mean by a bolt sleeve. The rifle has a rugged bolt with Mauser style non rotating extractor, which has been beveled so that you can single load it if you so desire.

I've owned many rifles in my years. This one has the best fit and finish of any full sized bolt actioned rifles I've owned. It really is a beautiful piece. Nobody does walnut like CZ. The wrist section is perfectly proportioned, and the fit of the metal to wood is as good as any production rifle I've owned.

It also helps that it shoots as good as it does.

The bolt sleeve is the part that extends from the back of the bolt, behind the rear receiver ring. The safety is attached to/through it.

The rifle looks very good to me; there are a lot of things I like about it. But I have grown up with the three position Mauser safety and do not want to have to unlearn that reflex. If that part of the CZ can be changed it will be an ideal rifle for me.

RB,

Take a look at American Hunting Rifles (AHR). They specialize in customizing CZ's.
