I was wasting off-duty time at the shop awhile back, when the boss called me over to the counter. It seems a guy wants to trade a CZ 550 Safari Magnum against a CMP Garand.
I had to indicate a willingness to buy the CZ, in the event it proved to be as cute as this customer said it was. Since it was in .375 H&H, I said I would indeed buy this rifle, "if".
Well, it was and I did.

In person, the 550 is much more impressive than the catalog photos would lead us to believe. This one is big and broad---the magazine holds six rounds---but she just falls into place when I'm shooting, without a twitch.
She's got express sights, set trigger and a Roman Nose comb, came with a Leupold VariX III 1.5-5 and Warne rings, plus forty rounds of ammunition. Which I shot up last weekend. (The Leupold is on another CZ, now.)
I forgot the camera on range day, so no full views, only this one close -up.
I don't know if my photography is good enough to get this rifle shown right, but I'll try next time we go out.

P.S. $900.

Just finished working with one.
If I'd been 20 years younger I'da kept it. :)
They are impressive.

Congrats to picking up that rifle for a good price.
I chose a Sako for my 375 but do have a CZ550 in 416 Rigby. It's a nice rig.

dubbleA, I never tire of seeing your various rifles. Do you know if that's hand checkering on that beautiful stock? I ask only because the Kimber Caprivi stock in .375 H&H Mag is completely hand checkered. I'm thinking of buying a .458 Lott this year and the Caprivi is the front runner at this point. The .416 Rem is a great round too but I'm crazy about any cartridge based on the .375 H&H Mag.

i used a cz 550 in .375 H&H on two hunting trips to africa and it was not found wanting, i shot just about all the large plains animals with it and didnt lose any with 260gr accabond at 2600 fps. and i,m going back in may and will use it again. eastbank.

I've got that rifle on my wish list (one in 375 and one in 416). Plan to go with the Bavarian style stock. They just fit me better.
