If there were such a thing as pre-ban mags for this pistol, how many rounds would it hold? 12? Is this gun as reliable as the 9mm model?

I've been curious about this model, but without pre ban mags, it seems size inefficient, for just 10 rounds of .40.

Likely 12. The EAA version of this gun has 12 round .40 mags.

If the size vs caliber thing bothers you, you could always go with the slightly smaller CZ-40B with 10 rounds of .40S&W or move up to the CZ-97B with 10 rounds of 45ACP.

Don't know about preban mags for a CZ-75B in .40S&W. Reliability has been just like my 9x19 CZ-75B which has been 100%. 1000's of rounds thru both without a hitch.
Shoot well and often.

You stumbled onto one of the great emigmas in CZ land. The 40 was released in the states after the ban. So if there are any actual 40 CZ Hi Caps..they would be grey market imports....made for other Countries.

The Witness mags mentioned earlier do work very very well for most folks and are a great quality mag. Just make sure you get the Tanfoglio mags...they are made by MecGar.

Ive never tried a 40 in a 9mm mag, but in all honesty may work as well.

The dependability of CZ 75's is undaunted in all calibers. Simply put they are up with the best of the best in most categories..including this one.

Shoot well

Witness mags in the .40 cal CZ can work well. It depends on the bullet and OAL of the cartridge that is being used.
