Which of the two would you rather have? What are the advantages or disadvantages of one to the other?

Trying to decide which one I want to buy next. Want something with a manual safety. Already have a PCR.

I just got the steel framed compact last month. I never gave them much thought before that. I must say I'm impressed with it. I did change the hammer spring to 17 lbs, polished the internals and put the thin G10 grips on. No malfunctions yet with maybe 400 rounds or so. I can not comment on the full size, but there is a CZ specific forum out there with a treasure trove of info. Mine is the cocked and locked/ safety lever version. I do know from the specs that the compact is "about" 3/4 inch shorter slide and 3/8 shorter grip. One last thought is that I did grind the magazine floorplates down to the grip contour being that it stuck out a ways and pinched my fingers. Petros

Since you already have a PCR, I would get a full size. Basically you already have the compact niche filled...and with a lighter, alloy-framed version (which is what you want for carry). But if weight or if size is not an issue, then the other variable shouldn't matter as much either or necessarily be viewed as a negative.

What Seed said is what I was going to say. You won't be able to use yor PCR mags in the 75B, but you can use the 75 mags in the PCR.

If you really want to stick with the exact same magazines, go compact, but I think you've already got that lane covered. Or if you want another CZ carry gun that does have a safety, go compact. Personally I'd go 75B.

I have both and like them both. Although I do not have large hands, the Compact grip "squeezes" my just a bit to tighten my grip. I think this is what enables me to shoot the Compact better.

With both pistols, you can stack up on the regular magazines and keep just a couple of Compact mags. The full size mags function in the Compact, but protrude out of the grip.

The recoil of the Compact is sharper than the full size, but not uncomfortable.

I have swapped the slides between the two frames on occasion to end up with a Semicompact and a long slide on a compact frame. This combination is an interesting number to shoot.

For CCW, the Compact is on the heavy side unless you are fortunate enough to find one with an aluminum frame. There were some for sale a short time ago. One of my pet things for cZ is to have full size and compact aluminum frames.

Which one would I choose? I took both and have no regrets.

Ditto tekarra... "I took both"
Both of these CZs are EXCELLENT pistolas!!!..
75D-Compact is my CCW... 75B (.40) just an awesome 'full-sizer' with one of the sweetest triggers of my whole collection...
And like the Compact, a VERY, VERY ACCURATE shoot!

Eliminate the problem... think 'Collection'...

Does it have to be double action. If not how about a 75sa. The frame has the nicer beavertail, you get extended safeties and an extended mag release. Here's my 75sa with my compact. Mark

With these pics of the fullsize and compact, you guys are really making it hard to figure out which one. Seeing them together like that makes me want to buy two, and the SA makes three........:banghead:

Have both carry both, welcome to the CZ addiction.

Go full size if you can. Then trade the PCR for a compact.

Beware the next step in the slippery slope is J frames and 1911's :)

One of the things I like most about CZs is that like calibers can use the same magazines. If I carry my 75B and choose to switch out and carry my 2075 RAMI I can continue to use the 75B as a back up magazine ( Obvioulsy, the reverse isn't true)

Given relatively small size difference from practical point of view the 'compact' does not offer anything of value.

This may be a dumb question, but what's the difference between a CZ 75 Compact, and a PCR? Steel frame vs. aluminum?

PCR is an aluminum framed decocker model, the front end of the frame is differently styled from any other CZExcept maybe the 40P. The Compact is the same dimensions but with a steel frame, basically it is just a regular 75B with a shorter grip and slide.

Railroader why is the Compact wearing a trigger from the SAs?

I have been working on it.;) It now has a 85 combat sear, no firing pin block and that is a standard 75b 16 round mag with a sp-01 baseplate. The trigger now only has about an eighth of an inch of take up before the sear starts to move. Mark

Maybe I can't see the forest for the trees,

but I don't get it. No disrespect intended, just curious.

If you think the PCR is just about perfect for carry, why the original question?

Was it prompted by size, ergonomics, or?

Thanks,

salty

Viking,
The only drawback to having a PCR and a 75B is the decocker on one and a safety on the other. For range work it is not an issue, but it could be if you CCW them on a rotation, IMO.

here's how they compare side by side...

Don't for get to get a RAMI for concealed carry. And the Kadet kit will save you a bunch of money in ammo costs.

Slippery slope my foot..........it's a slippery cliff. :D

Not really an issue, as far as I can tell everyone and their mother carries their CZs on halfcock/DA, I've screwed around and carried some cocked and locked, but for teh serialz, always decocked double action.

The way I see it, the safety or decocker is there for if you need a fast, field-expedient way to 'safe' the weapon. Don't want it cocked after firing, if you've got a B model, put the safety on if you don't have the time to decock it, if you have the decocker, decock it.

Just looking for something with a safety for a home/range gun. Something the wife and kids can also shoot and become familiar with the operation of the safety, just like on the 22's and 1911's.

Micro, nice comparison pics.
