I think I have found the culprit, and it is not springs ammo or cleanlines. Went to the range again today, and had another FTE.

Every time this happens the slide stays back so the good thing is you get to see what happened. I keep noticing how the case being extracted hangs up on the next round in the mag. This just doesn't seem normal.

The BD has a loaded chamber indicator.... well when you seat an empty cartridge between the extractor, and the little indent in the slide on the other side it seems the rounds sits awfully low. In fact when the rounds sits exactly where it is supposed to, the loaded chamber indicator does not potrude out the top of the slide because it is not sitting high enough. When you push the round up a little higher the rim of the case is not in the indent opposite the extractor. This would cuase rounds to not be fully extracted, and also cause the ejector to come in contact with the case at the wrong point.

Basically, the slide was not manufactured correctly. I am almost sure this is the reason for the problems. Because the empty case does not get caught by the indent opposite the extractor, it comes in to contact with smooth metal, wich cuase the case to get hung up in the ejection port in one way or another. It doesn't happen with every round, but I have put nearly 500 rounds through this thing since I've had it, and have not gotten through a box of 50 without a FTE. In fact... today was the first time that I only had one FTE with an entire box. Also I did not use WWB. The enhanced strength extractor spring may masked the problem, but I think at this point that there is a manufacturing defect.

I find it hard to believe that the orginal owner never had this problem. I have cleaned the weapon 3 times, scrubbed the chamber, and used about every type of 9mm ammo that I own. This can't possibly be an ammo issue, and if it were I would never have another CZ.
The only thing that determines me to fix this gun at this point is its accuracy. The accuracy is unbeleivable. This thing blows my XDm out of the water when it comes to putting rounds in the right place. The problem is in its current state it is worthless as a self defense piece. Every time I get an FTE I have to drop the mag.

Somone with a CZ please confirm wether what I see is normal or abnormal.

Nothing would be normal about something machined to make it jam, nope. Call 1-800-955-4486, ask for Mike Eagleshield, get it in and fixed.

Sounds like that is what I am going to have to do. Just wanted to see if someone could try what I did with the loaded chamber indicator to see if that is what they see.

My regular BD did the same exact thing until I bought some MecGar 16rd mags and hosed out the gun with PowderBlast. Now it shoots fine.

I even sent it off to CZ, they returned it after firing about 10 shots stating "no malfunctions noted".

Clean & lube the indicator

I had a similar FTE problem with my BD. This started to happen after about 1000 rounds. The indicator dimensions are quite tight and tough gunk built up over time. I used Hoppes solvent, soaked and the brushed with a small brass brush. Used compressed air and CLP as well. After about 30 mins work the indicator floats freely. I test the functioning by pressing my pinky nail up against the indicator. It must go up easily. If a good cleaning does not do the trick have a gunsmith work on it. Hope this helps.

BTW - my BD is one of my favorite 9's for accuracy.

The indicator itself is not the problem. The point is that when a casing sits between the extractor and the machined indent on the slide opposite he extractor, the loaded chamber indicator does not protrude out the top of the slide. If you push the round up further the chamber indacator indicates a loaded condition, but the case rim no longer it in the indent.

My guess is that this indent being in the wrong place is causing the failure t extract. I would like someone to indicate the position of the indent on their slide so I can rule this out, or inform CZ. I plan on calling them anyways, but I want to install my new spring first to see if that solves the problems.

Check out the chamber pic. I circled the extractor(fuzzy), and the indent on the slide. It is had to tell that there is a lot of space for the indent to be moved up higher.
