CZ 97b - Are my jeans getting skinnier?

@roval Thank you for those pictures, that gives me a great idea knowing my fingers may be just a bit longer than yours. Your fingers look like similar girth to mine as well. Appreciate you taking the time for that.

Mine is just the stock 97b with the exception of added rubber grips. I started carrying a Colt MKIV Series 70, switched to a Glock 21, and gave them both up for EDC of the 97b. A custom holster from E.B. Leather and a crossbreed belt makes OWB no problem. It's a heavy bugger no question, but it soaks up recoil for following shot's. I'm pretty much sold on the CZ line as you can see by my Avatar. My 97b was $829.00 delivered. High I know, but they were hard to find at the time. Their probably much higher now. IMG_3453.JPG

That would be a good deal today I think. It seems what I was used to paying for CZ's of old is long gone, they have proven themselves in the US market and prices now on them are going up each day it seems.

The problem (or as I've been told) with the 97b is that they only do runs of them periodically so they sell out fast and then there is a big wait for the next run.

Cajun Gun Works has a few in stock for those who wish to purchase straight from them to have work done and avoid the shipping; but they say not to expect their inventory to last very long.

Wondering if any of you could measure your middle finger to the base hand/wrist junction?

Mine is 7-3/4" long, I typically wear size large gloves due more to finger length than girth, just wanted to get a feel for how big these feel in the hand, that's a common theme that people talk about with these is how big in the had it feels.
My hand (same as in the photos above) is 7.5" in the dimension that you asked about. I assume that the people who feel that the 97B is huge either have smaller hands, or they just feel that their hand needs to wrap around a handgun grip like a baseball bat. ;)

I do have small hands, but it's not the grip size that bothers me but the DA trigger reach....with the factory grips it was unmanageable. Single Action is fine, though.

Common complaint about CZ's and rightfully so for shorter fingered people.

CGW makes their "reach reduction kit" that moves the trigger back 5mm (which I guess would be about 3/8"). Makes a big difference.

I have medium sized hands. At first, the 97 grip felt almost too large. I added the CZ rubber grips and shot it enough to get used to its size, which is really not all that big. I think the "large" grip may have something to do with the low perceived recoil. Mine is not modded in any way, the accuracy is very good and the trigger has smoothed nicely with use.

Are you essentially asking us if your new firearm is making your derriere too big?

I won't fall into that trap with a female. I'll be darned if I'm going to let it happen to me on THR!

No, the “are my jeans getting skinnier” comment was about gun owners jabbing CZ owners and how they are “hipster, skinny jean wearing mellinnials”.

I never actually heard the cz / hipster comment. I've heard plenty of glock "phrases " but not cz. (Not worried about anyone being perceived a certain way due to their firearm choice... choosing a firearm is good enough for me)

My taste for the brand grew based on smooth shooting and excellent accuracy. I can wait, but look forward to adding the 97bd to my collection.

After just casting over 700 boolits for 45 I'll be itching to pick up another 45. Only have one at the moment. Going to cast another 1300 or so by the new year so I've got 2k ready and coated. I'll have a nice set of loads to Chrono, accuracy, and function test in my 1911. Actually I have two different molds so I'll have lots of testing... hope close to that time s 97 shows up at a fair price

@Erief0g I’m not worried about others labels. As you can tell by the title, just playing into peoples dumb slights towards peoples choices different than theirs on things that don’t really matter.

Never seen or heard the CZs are hipster guns meme.

But I guess with their popularity with gun games might do it, I dunno.

Always liked the 97, always kinda wanted one.

I’ve heard it a few times from people when I carried my PCR back in the day. Didn’t bother me, could care less. I think a lot of that thinking has gone away as CZ really has become mainstream, which sucks as their prices now reflect that. Gone are the days of their unknown quality in the American market that was reflected in their price.

It’s their loss, as CZ’s are sweet!

I’m not much of a 45ACP shooter, and sold my last 45, so need something with class to be the 45 place holder in my collection. This one may when the time comes just up my need for more time devoted on the progressive press for 45.

Need to make a decision but all roads are so far leading to the 97b.

Hard to go wrong there.

.45s are in an odd spot for me, I adore 1911s and have a few so a new .45 has to do something special for me. 10 rounds in a bigger package doesn't fit my "needs to be different" criteria (it's an idiosyncracy of mine) to justify my limited gun budget. Much the same for the HK45 or Sig 220 and 227.

But I still admire them.

Oddly enough dispite having a Glock 19, Wilson EDC x9, Sig 228 all filling the 9mm carry niche, I still want a PCR or P-01, guess my issues only extend to the .45 ACP.

PCR/P-01’s are sweet, mine only got displaced by my Glock 48 (with SA15 magazines) but it is the Glock I’ve been waiting for, for a long time.

I’ll never get rid of my PCR, still love shooting it.

I bought my 97B last summer and was super impressed with it right out of the box. The gun is very accurate and the recoil is very tolerable for me and it's a blast to shoot. I sent it to CGW or their "E" conversion and added an extended thumb safety, adjustable rear sight, and a stainless guide rod. Now the trigger is easier to reach (also added Lok slim bogies) and has significantly reduced the trigger pull wt. in both DA and SA. With little creep and much cleaner break the trigger is almost as nice as the one on my semi custom 1911. I already had a Shadow 2 when I got the 97B and now I'm wanting to send it to CGW for a little work.

Just measured mine. 8 and 1/18". The first time I handled a 97 I expected it to feel like a Desert Eagle in the hand, based on how some folks talk about it. It's not bad at all in my opinion.

Considering they share the magazine and mag release, am guessing they feel the same.
IMO, the 97 is NOT all that bigger than a 75.

Just found a 97b and a fnx45 tactical at the same store.

I was looking for a 97bd and I immediately didn't like the safety on the b model. The distance from the back strap to the front strap was to long for me. Just personal preference.

Even though the fnx was bigger the grip felt better. The extra rounds at 15+1 is a nice add on. The optic cut is a nice touch. Threaded barrel... night sights.

Can't believe I'm passing up on the 97 but it just wasn't the right fit.

Carry wise I'll still be using my pro package cajun sp01 .

Now to find a black fnx tactical 15rnd model in stock. Store i was at only had fde and not what I'm looking for either
