CZ clones - an interesting read.

Good write-up.

I've had several Sphinxs (still have one), an ASAI One Pro, have a custom AT-84s (supposedly built by Jim Borland in the early 90s), and a bunch of CZs, including a semi-customer CZ-75B SA.

They're all good -- but the Sphinx and the custom AT-84s are the best.

I'm surprised that the AT-84s is based upon Tanfoglio parts -- but I don't dispute it. The three AT-84s models that I had, including the custom mentioned above, seemed to be very close copies. The only difference I found when examining them was the firing pin... but I didn't really do a detailed comparison. The last of the small-frame Tanfoglio-based guns are VERY different from the early CZs and current B models, with very limited parts interchangeability. (mags are about the only thing...)

The ASAI One Pro I owned was marvelous, but the double-action trigger was so smooth and light I found that I simply couldn't shoot it well -- I was double-tapping when I didn't mean to. I may try to get another, one day, as it had a superb factory trigger.
