I had noticed it before during regular maintenance, but never thought about it. Then the light bulb went off. Looking down the mag well of my CZ 100 polymer frame 9mm, you can see, clearly stamped in a metal insert, "GUN." It's in better than 1/4 inch letters. Of course, it's not otherwise visible, but would clearly show up on an x-ray or fluoroscope. It's a dead giveaway when trying to smuggle it aboard a plane in your carry-on. That's the only reason I can think the Czechs would have done this.
I'm not familiar with other poly guns, only having handled Glocks, Sigmas, etc, never stripped one for cleaning. Do others have this feature, especially CZ with their other plastic guns?

Newer heard of or seen that kind of marking before, none on my 96ish USP, none on my late 07-early 08 Glock 27, none on my 04 S$W Sigma 9VE. Weird, that probably makes sense though.

Weird, but IDing it as a gun for detection machines is plausible. It would seem to be redundant, however - the gun's profile should be clearly evident anyway.

How do you like the CZ100? I handled one at a gun show and it actually felt very good in my hand, though I obviously didn't load it or try the trigger. The sticker on it was $330-something. I expected it, from pictures, to be a full-size service pistol, but it is actually very compact, between the RAMI and 75 Compacts in size. The adjustable sights (for this type of gun) and slide racker are unusual features as well.

I had one of those. Yeah, I noticed the GUN in the mag well too. I think your explanation is most plausible. Mine was accurate and completely reliable from get go. The trigger was so heavy as to make a Sigma trigger feel light and crisp, but you can get used to it and master it. I didn't care for the adjustable sights on a defensive pistol. They're big and practically reach out to snag on clothing.

For southpaw, I agree about the trigger. When I'm on the line, however and I pump up the adrenaline for speed, I don't notice the length of the pull. I disagree on the sights, but the 100 isn't my primary CCW. For adjustable sights, they seem rugged and hold their zero well.
For the lone haranguer, $330 is cheaper than I've seen. I got mine for $400 a few months back. SOG had them in their catalog for that, down from $425. I liked the size; the RAMI doesn't fit my hand as well.
The 100 is a forgotten CZ. It's no longer in production IIRC.
