I had a chance to get the P 09 to the range over the weekend.

Gun is a stock model no modifications as yet. I left the decocker on and have not yet repalced it with the manual safety option. Did a quick field strip to see if it shipped with any gunk in it but it was prety clean but still did a quick clean and lube on it.

This is my first semi auto I've owned and after shooting it I don't know why I waited so long.

100 rounds down range no issues what so ever, felt recoil was very light and it's a gun I feel I could shoot all day. At least to me the trigger was smooth and broke well in SA, DA was a little stiffer but that is to be exepected.

Any minor drawbacks are:
Price of magazines but that may just be me used to gettign PMAG for $15
Magazine springs were pretty stiff, but again that may be me used to loading the PMAGs and they may soften over a little time ( a mag loader should arrive later this week)
For me the three dot rsights will take a little getting used, I seemed to shoooting low but patterns were getting better near the end.

Overall a great gun and I can't wait to get it out the range again.

Glad yours is functioning as it should. I have a P-09 that has been flawless in operation as well. The SA trigger does feel a bit "mushy", more so than the trigger on my P-07. Cajun Gun Works has a fix to make the trigger break more crisp and with shorter reset, but it will cost a bit of money to do so.

Anway, they're very good pistols. What distance were you shooting, and how good were your groups?

I was shooting at both 10 feet & 50 feet. The groupings at 10 were getting pretty good towards the end, 50 feet may be a stretch for now. It just gives me an excuse for more practice.

Well, 50 feet, for a handgun, takes a lot of skill to get good groups out of. Some guys have gotten pretty good at 25 yards. I'm not there. I've gotten pretty good at the 7 - 10 yard ranges. I'm going to work towards 15 yards, then out to 25 yards. I think the P-09 is a good platform for the range [and combat, too, but we're talking range practice]. The best part of it is a pistol that has fairly light recoil, so that tends to lend itself to shooting it more. Enjoy those time! :)

Welcome to the addiction. :) The P-09 is quite the awesome sidearm - don't forget, CZ-USA has night sights for them in stock now, High Noon Holsters makes some absolutely incredible holsters for them, too. Below is the High Noon Holsters bison hide Slide Guard for the CZ P-09.

Thanks for the info. Any idea if the sights are do it yourself or is it just safer to have a gunsmith do it? Also do you know what if any holo / red dot sight may fit the P 09?

The front sight is pretty much "do it yourself", as long as you aren't using metal on metal. The rear sight can be done also. Again, nothing metal on metal. Those hammers with plastic on one side and rubber on the other would be good. I used a rubber handled screwdriver.

Red dot sights, in my opinion, only look "right" on a pistol when the frame is cut down for them. But your likes may be different. I don't know of anyone .who makes a base to go on the P-09.
